2023 March Madness Round 1 Player Prop Bet Picks & Predictions (Friday)

Friday's Best Bets: 2023 NCAA Tournament, NBA & NHL (3/17)

Yesterday was certainly one of the more exciting first days in tournament history. Most people’s brackets have already been disintegrated, as we’ve seen a No. 2 and 4 seed suffer an upset.

We have another full day and more possibilities for memorable moments. Let’s look at some players that may or may not make an impact.

Blake Hinson Under 13.5 Points (-102)

Hinson is coming into this matchup as the Panthers’ leading scorer, but he's struggled recently. He was quiet during the ACC tournament and averaged nearly four points less than his season average.

It doesn't get any better for him going against Iowa State. The Cyclones were the best-scoring defense in the Big 12, arguably the best conference in the country.  He'll likely see a lot of Tamin Lipsely, who was one of the better defensive guards and averaged 2.2 steals per game, but they also have three other guards averaging over a steal.

Jordan Hawkins Over 15.5 Points (-130)

UCONN won their first 14 games, but later into the season, they struggled by going 9-8, which included a Big East semi-final loss.

They're still one of the favorites in the tournament, and Hawkins is a significant reason why. He comes into this game second on the team in scoring and three-pointers.

Iona's defensive numbers look good on paper, but that is thanks to a strength of schedule ranked 254th. This is by far the best offense the Gaels have seen, and Hawkins will have a big opening-round performance.

Joey Hauser Over 6.5 Rebounds (-118)

This will be one of the more physical games on the slate. Both teams will come out and try to establish themselves on the boards.

Hauser has been great for the Spartans in the frontcourt and leads the team with nearly seven rebounds per game.

While USC has guys they can guard down low, they have not been excellent at stopping their opponents from cleaning the glass. The Trojans are 269th in total rebounds allowed and 318th in team rebounds. I'll take Hauser going over his total.
