Conference Championship Week is here and we have a stellar set of games to look forward to. As opposed to a jam-packed Saturday slate of 40+ games to sift through, we have just nine games spread out over all of the broadcast windows. Here’s a quick rundown of the contests and a pick for each. All odds are current as of this writing and courtesy of PointsBet.
Baylor vs. Oklahoma, 12 PM, ABC
The Big 12 Championship Game is a rematch of a thrilling regular season contest in which Oklahoma rebounded from a huge deficit to stun Baylor. There’s just not a huge gap between these two squads in 2019. The Sooners may get the win, but the Bears will make them work for it.
Louisiana at Appalachian State, 12 PM, ESPN
This is another rematch from the regular season. Appalachian State picked up a 10-point win over Louisiana earlier this season and the two clubs will square off again for the Sun Belt crown. The matchup is close, but the Mountaineers do enough to pull away on the home field.
Miami (OH) vs. Central Michigan, 12 PM, ESPN2
The MAC Championship will be decided on Ford Field in Detroit and we should be in line for an entertaining contest. Central Michigan is the better team on paper and the stronger offensive squad, but Miami (OH) can keep this one close and respectable.
UAB at Florida Atlantic, 1:30 PM, CBSSN
Florida Atlantic gets home-field advantage for the Conference USA title clash. They get the nod on offense, while UAB is the stronger defensive squad. This is another contest that has the makings of one that can go down to the wire. UAB covers and could upset to boot.
Cincinnati at Memphis, 3:30 PM, ABC
These two squads squared off last weekend with Memphis picking up a 34-24 win. They meet again for the AAC crown and the Tigers are rightfully favored. Consecutive double-digit wins over a strong defensive team is a tough trick to pull off. Cincinnati keeps it closer than expected.
Georgia vs. LSU, 4 PM, CBS
The SEC Championship Game has all the makings of a heavyweight fight. The stout defense of the Bulldogs will square off with the prolific Tigers offense at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Joe Burrow and company have been mighty impressive this season, but Georgia is far from a pushover. The Bulldogs keep it closer than expected and an outright upset wouldn’t be stunning.
Hawaii at Boise State, 4 PM, ESPN
This will be yet another rematch from the regular season; this one will decide the Mountain West Conference winner. Earlier this season, the Broncos picked up a 59-37 home win over the Rainbow Warriors and they welcome them to campus once again. Hawaii will make a game of it, but Boise State pulls away in the end and covers.
Virginia vs. Clemson, 7:30 PM, ABC
After an emotional win over Virginia Tech last week, Virginia now heads to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte to face Clemson for the ACC title. They’re huge underdogs against the powerful Tigers, and rightfully so. However, that doesn’t mean that Bryce Perkins and company can’t make it somewhat interesting and keep the margin under four touchdowns.
Ohio State vs. Wisconsin, 8 PM, FOX
The last game of the day to kickoff emanates from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and will decide the Big Ten. These two clubs squared off on Ohio State’s turf a few weeks ago, resulting in a 38-7 victory for the Buckeyes. The Badgers have gotten it together since then and ripped off four wins in a row. They don’t have the firepower to overtake this dangerous Ohio State team, but they can put up more of a fight this time around.
