(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Casey Schmitt (+520)
Casey Schmitt will likely hit third and play DH today. He’s a right-handed hitter who has smoked right-handed pitching over the last month. He’s hit a .323 ISO and a wOBA of .396 with only 21.1% of strikeouts.
In addition, he’s added 46% of fly balls over the last 30 days and has added 64% of hard contact with a team-best 18% barrel percentage against righties over the last 30 days.
He’ll face Erick Fedde of the White Sox, who has allowed a .415 ISO and a wOBA of .444 to his last 57 righties. Fedde, another righty, has allowed more fly balls than ground balls induced against righties over the last 30 days.
This is a prime spot for Schmitt.
Austin Riley (+440)
Austin Riley has hit a .288 ISO and a wOBA of .339 against his last 73 righties. Today, he’ll battle Jake Irvin, a right-handed pitcher, who has really struggled against righties over the last month.
Irvin has given up a .250 ISO and a wOBA of .419 to his last 40 righties. He’s also allowed 34.5% of fly balls, which is more fly balls than ground balls induced during that time.
Riley has hit 48.9% of fly balls over the last month against righties and has added a 15.6% barrel percentage. He’s also hit 57.8% of hard contact against righties during this stretch. Give Riley a shot today.
Corbin Carroll (+420)
Corbin Carroll has slugged a .298 ISO and a wOBA of .337 against his last 68 righties. He’s also hit 31.7% of fly balls with 63.4% of hard contact and a 17.1% barrel percentage against righties.
The left-hander will take on Michael Lorenzen of the Colorado Rockies tonight. Lorenzen has been great against righties as a right-handed pitcher, but he’s been far from excellent against lefties. Over the last month, 61 lefties have hit a .358 ISO and a wOBA of .497 against Lorenzen. In addition, Lorenzen has allowed 26.8% of fly balls and has struck out just 19.7% of lefties. He’s also given up a 22% barrel percentage.
Carroll didn’t come through for us yesterday. Hopefully, he can redeem himself tonight!
