Let’s take a look at Saturday’s slate of NBA games to find First Basket props.
Toronto Raptors at Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks and Raptors square off Saturday night. Both of these teams have succeeded in cashing First Basket props, doing so both well above league average. Because of this, I will target a player from each team.
Since opening night, the Hawks have been getting Dejounte Murray involved in the offense. With this, he’s been getting a lot of opportunities for First Baskets all season. A matchup against a Toronto backcourt that is banged up will give him a solid opportunity to cash again in this game.
The aforementioned injuries to the Raptors’ roster have also given plenty of opportunities to role players in Toronto. One of those I’m targeting here is Scottie Barnes. Barnes has been getting plenty of touches over the last few weeks and has scored three of the last five first field goals for Toronto. I’m going to ride the hot hand here.
Both Murray and Barnes are solid plays for First Basket in this game.
Pick: Dejounte Murray – Scottie Barnes
Minnesota Timberwolves at Philadelphia 76ers
The Timberwolves visit the 76ers in this matchup, with the 76ers on the second night of a back-to-back. After a matchup with Milwaukee on Friday night, we can expect the 76ers to be resting some starters.
With this in mind, I’m targeting the Timberwolves here. There’s a good chance Embiid will sit as he rarely plays both games of a back-to-back. This could make Karl-Anthony Towns an attractive pick for First Basket.
Another name I’m looking at is D’Angelo Russell. Tyrese Maxey left Friday’s game with an injury, and we may not see him in this game. That could help Russell be a matchup that Minnesota can rely on. On top of this, he’s been one of the top Minnesota contributors for First Baskets.
I’m going to ride both Russell and Towns in this matchup.
