The NHL season winds down as teams gear up for the playoffs. It's a six-game slate to choose from today, with the only notable matchup being the Blues taking on the Predators at 6:00 ET.
I'll be taking over the Saturday and Sunday NHL parlays moving forward, and we cashed yesterday's parlay at +382 in our inaugural parlay! Let's dive into each leg of this three-teamer for today.
Leg #1. Panthers ML (-350 via BetMGM)
The red hot Panthers get the action started this afternoon, taking on the Red Wings in Motown. Florida is riding a nine-game win streak and is 9-1-0 in their last 10 games. As for Detroit, they're just 3-5-2 over their last ten and lost the last time they took the ice. Puck drops at 1:00 ET from Little Caesars Arena in this Eastern Conference clash.
There's -350 juice on this game for a reason. This season, the Panthers are in the upper echelon of teams, while the Wings are more towards the top of the lower third of the league. This high-flying offense of Florida should have no trouble netting several pucks this afternoon and collecting the two points. They're the only team in the NHL that scores over 4.0 goals per game this season (4.2 gpg). Let's throw the Panthers’ moneyline into this parlay.
Leg #2. Blues ML (-110 via BetMGM)
A heavyweight Central Division clash between St. Louis and Nashville gets underway at 6:00 ET tonight. The Blues are riding their eight-game win streak heading into today's action, while the Predators are 6-3-1 over their last ten.
These organizations are physical, mature teams that have no issue putting their bodies on the line. The Blues and Preds are reasonably even in most categories, with St. Louis having a slight edge in goals against, goals scored, and shooting percentage. I'm adding St. Louis to our parlay due to their advantage on special teams - specifically their power play. Nashville has amassed the most penalty minutes out of any team this season (949), so we should see some opportunities for the Blues’ man-advantage to shine. St. Louis has the number two ranked power-play unit in the league at 26.4%, while Nashville is killing off 80.2% of opposing power plays (14th). This will be a great game, but I give St. Louis the slight edge and like them to grind out a win in this game.
Leg #3. Wild -1.5 (+105 via BetMGM)
Minnesota hosts San Jose at 6:00 ET tonight in St. Paul. Both teams are coming in on zero days’ rest, with the Wild dropping yesterday's game to the Blues and the Sharks losing to the Stars.
This season, Minnesota has been a force, and they're primed to make a run at the Stanley Cup. They're 6-3-1 over their last 10 games, while the Sharks are just 1-6-3 in theirs, including nine straight losses.
There's a considerable discrepancy in both statistics and "the will to win" at this point. Marc-Andre Fleury should get the start tonight in net for the Wild, and I like his chances to shut down the league's 27th ranked offense in San Jose (2.6 gpg). Meanwhile, the Wild is a top-five offensive team in both goals per game (3.7) and shooting percentage (11.25%). I like Minnesota to dominate the Sharks physically and put some distance between themselves and San Jose on the scoreboard in this one. Let's add the Wild on the puck line to round out today's parlay.
Total Odds: +383 via BetMGM
