In what will be an unofficial money event for the PGA Tour, the QBE Shootout tees off this week in Naples, Florida. A two-man team event lasting three days, teams will compete via stroke play over 54-holes before one team is declared a winner.
With each day featuring a different format (scramble, modified alternate shot, and fourball), this event provides a ton of value for those willing to dig deep enough.
Let’s take a closer look
Previous Winners of The QBE Shootout
- 2020: Harris English/Matt Kuchar
- 2019: Rory Sabbatini/Kevin Tway
- 2018: Brian Harman/Patton Kizzire
Course Preview (Tiburon Golf Club)
Designed by Greg Norman, the event will be hosted at the properties Gold Course which features a rating of 76 and a slope of 137. A links-style course, the length comes in at 7,382 yards making it slightly shorter than the Tour’s average.
Like most courses in Florida, the greens are laid with Bermuda Grass and feature a plethora of bunkers around most.

Outright Betting Picks
English/Kuchar (+650 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Not only did English and Kuchar run away with this event last year, but they did so in record-breaking fashion. Their nine-stroke margin of victory is the largest since the event began in 1989, and is a feat they might be chasing for the rest of their career in this event.
The 2020 win marked the third win for this du0 (two other runner-ups) in the event, tying Brad Faxon and Scott McCarron for the most wins in the event’s history.
In addition to past event success, this duo also comes into this weekend with some momentum on their side. In the four events that Kuchar has played this season, he’s four for four on cuts made and has finished no lower than 37 in any event thus far.
With English putting together his two best rounds of the season last week at the Heroes, I like for this duo to be the team to be once again this week in Naples.
