It’s an election year, and it’s the first one since the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Murphy v. National Collegiate Athletic Association (2018). That decision overturned a federal law that had effectively banned sports betting in the U.S.
So with sports betting entering the mainstream, it’s only a matter of time before sportsbooks can legally offer lines on the other great American competitions — elections. While it’s not legal yet, the folks at DraftKings have put together a free $100,000 contest for this year’s race.

To enter, head over to DraftKings’ “Pools” section and select “Free $100k Pool: Presidential Election.” Once you’re there, get prompted with a series of 12 questions. You must pick a candidate to win each of those races, and players with the most correct predictions will split the $100,000 pool. New and existing users can participate.
Which States Do You Pick?
You’ll make 12 selections from the interface that looks like this:

You’ll also have to pick one of the two candidates to win each of these states:
- Arizona (Biden +3.0)
- Colorado (Biden +17.4)
- Florida (Biden +6.3)
- Indiana (N/A)
- Iowa (Trump +0.3)
- Michigan (Biden +9.7)
- New Jersey (Biden +21.9)
- North Carolina (Biden +3.4)
- Pennsylvania (Biden +7.6)
- West Virginia (N/A)
- Wisconsin (Biden +8.1)
A lot will change between now and November, but it’s a good idea to keep an eye on FiveThirtyEight’s national polling average. The website gave Trump a better chance than most heading into Election Day 2016, and I err toward their analysis when making my election predictions.
