We were incredibly close to hitting back-to-back parlays. Unfortunately, the Minnesota Twins couldn’t figure out Daniel Lynch or really any of the Royals’ pitchers last night. The Twins losing to the Royals was the one that ended our parlay chances.
But we’re back looking for another winning parlay. With a small slate, we can really start to zero in on a few games today. Here goes nothing!
(Odds courtesy DraftKings)
Minnesota Twins (-125)
I’m riding the Minnesota Twins again. The Twins will send out Joe Ryan, he looked phenomenal in his last start against the Red Sox. In that game, Ryan struck out seven and allowed just one run on five hits with no walks. Now he’s taking on a very poor Kansas City offense that just looks completely lost.
Meanwhile, Zack Greinke will take the hill for the Royals and his prime is way gone. Greinke has a 4.54 xFIP dating back to last season and hasn’t been able to earn strikeouts as he used to either.
To righties, Greinke is allowing a .346 wOBA and ISO of .212 to his last 439 plate appearances from the right side. The Twins will have only four righties in the lineup but maybe Carlos Correa busts out of his slump today.
Bet: Twins (-125 at DraftKings)
Chicago White Sox (-125)
Dylan Cease has really developed as a pitcher. Dating back to last season, Cease has an xFIP of 3.86 with 32.4% strikeouts. Walks will always be high with Cease but he’s been able to limit damage due to his strikeout potential.
Plus, he’s going up against a Guardians’ lineup that has overachieved. This lineup is an average lineup with one really good hitter in Jose Ramirez. Eventually, the Guardians will go back to their one or two-run games.
On the flip side, Zach Plesac will take the hill for the Guardians. He’s also been an average pitcher at best with a 5.08 xFIP dating back to last season. Plesac doesn’t earn many strikeouts and gives up a whole lot of power to righties. In the White Sox lineup, there will be six righties including Tim Anderson, Luis Robert, Jose Abreu, and Eloy Jimenez.
The White Sox will be the better team.
Bet: White Sox (-140 at DraftKings)
Athletics/Orioles Under 7.5 (-120)
In the last two games, the Athletics and Orioles have combined for four runs. The offenses are miserable and they’re making subpar pitchers look like Cy Young candidates. So let’s continue on with the trend and take the under in this game.
The Athletics are playing a 12:37 pm start and will likely have no fans in the stands. It’s going to be a quiet game with no energy between two pitchers that have an edge between Tyler Wells and Paul Blackburn.
Blackburn has walked just 5.2% batters dating back to last season and has earned 52.4% ground balls. Meanwhile, Wells has struck out nearly 28% of batters dating back to last season and has walked just 6.6% of batters.
Grab the under to finish the parlay.
