Top MLB Player Prop Odds & Picks for Saturday, April 9th (2022)

Trea Turner Prop Bets

It's a full 15-game slate on Saturday in Major League Baseball so we have plenty of options on the table for our best player props of the day.

We're coming off of a 2-1 day where we cashed the over on 1.5 total bases for Anthony Rizzo (+130) and Randy Arozarena (+125). The lone loss came on the under 4.5 hits allowed by Logan Webb (+120) as he gave up his fifth hit to the second-to-last batter he faced. Through two days in MLB we're 2-2 (+1.40 units). Here's what I'm locking in on the diamond today.

Whit Merrifield O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Kansas City bested Cleveland in the opening game on Thursday in a 3-1 effort. There was a built-in off day yesterday, so this will be the second game of the series between the Guardians and Royals. Zach Plesac takes the ball for Cleveland in this one while the Royals counter with Brad Keller.

Plesac is coming off of a season where he went 10-6 with a 4.67 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. The right-hander saw his numbers increase away from Progressive Field, where he posted a 5.18 ERA and the WHIP increased to 1.26 over 74.2 innings.

Whit Merrifield slots in at the top of the order so he will get at least four at-bats, but more likely five. Merrifield is 7-26 against Plesac with two doubles and only five strikeouts. With the way that Plesac pitched on the road last season, I like Whit to be able to collect at least two total bases in this game.

Bet: Whit Merrifield Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110 via DraftKings)

Trea Turner O/U 2.5 Total Bases

The Dodgers won 5-3 yesterday in the opener at Coors field against the Rockies. Los Angeles sends Tony Gonsolin to the mound and Colorado will opt for German Marquez.

German Marquez was 12-11 with a 4.40 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 2021 and struck out 176 hitters. All things considered, like pitching in the league's most offensive stadium, those are respectable numbers. The right-hander has faced the current Dodgers lineup in 138 at-bats and they slash .262/.355/.363 with five home runs and five doubles.

Trea Turner was a 1-5 with an RBI in the opener yesterday. He's only faced German Marquez five times in his career, but he's 3-5 against him with a double. Additionally, Turner found a lot of success at Coors Field in 2021, where he went 6-11. The Dodgers lineup is absolutely stacked and has decent success against Marquez so the lineup will roll over enough times to provide plenty of opportunities to reach three total bases. A majority of pitchers haven't been going very deep into games in their first outings, so once we get to the bullpen, I like this bet even more as the Rockies don't boast a threatening pen in my opinion.

Bet: Trea Turner Over 2.5 Total Bases (+125 via BetMGM)

Mookie Betts O/U 1.5 Total Bases

I'm going to keep it in the same game for my third player prop on the day. Mookie Betts is coming off of a 1-5 game with an RBI yesterday. He is the leadoff man, so there's no doubt he'll get another five opportunities to collect two total bases.

He has faced German Marquez 11 times over his career and recorded five singles with a slash line of .455/.538/.455. Like most hitters, Betts enjoys hitting at Coors Field as his slash line is .357/.409/.592 over 98 at-bats. He has 12 doubles, a triple, and three long balls. Like I mentioned above, this Dodgers lineup is stacked. They're going to get contributions from all nine hitters and it's easy for a pitcher to overlook certain guys in the lineup. Betts is not a player that you want to slip up against because he will make you pay. I like Betts to record at least two total bases in this game.

Bet: Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Total Bases (-135 via BetMGM)
