Top MLB Player Prop Odds & Picks for Sunday, April 24 (2022)

Yordan Alvarez HR Odds

It's Sunday baseball all across the country with action getting started as early as 1:10 ET this afternoon. The final game of the night is the marquee matchup for Sunday Night Baseball between the Brewers and Phillies. Here are my top three player props that I'll be locking in on Sunday:

Yordan Alvarez O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Blue Jays are looking for the three-game sweep this afternoon while the Astros are searching for their first win in five tries. First pitch is set for 2:10 ET at Minute Maid Park as the Jays send Yusei Kikuchi to the mound, while the Astros counter with Luis Garcia.

Yusei Kikuchi is 0-1 to start the season and this will be his third start of the year. He's posted a 3.24 ERA to go along with a 1.56 WHIP over 8.1 innings pitched. Most recently, the left-hander limited Boston to one earned run over 5.0 innings of work while allowing just three hits and three walks.

Yordan Alvarez has played in just nine games to start the new campaign, missing some time due to COVID-19. But, in his return to the lineup earlier in the week, he went 3-5 with two home runs and four RBI's in a game against the Angels. Kikuchi was previously with the Mariners, so the whole Houston roster is familiar with the hurler. Alvarez has faced him in 18 at-bats in his career, and he's 6-18 against him with two home runs and two doubles. I like Alavez to record at least two total bases as Houston gets back on track in the series finale today.

Bet: Yordan Alvarez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105 via DraftKings)

Pete Alonso O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Mets conclude their series with the Diamondbacks tonight with the teams having split the first two weekend games. New York goes with Tylor Megill while the Dbacks send out Madison Bumgarner to try and win the series. First pitch is set for 4:10 ET from Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.

Madison Bumgarner is 0-1 to start the season, but he's found some early success with a 1.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. The veteran lefty limited the Nationals to two runs (neither earned) over 5.0 innings of work in his most recent outing. He allowed just two hits, but issued four free passes.

Pete Alonso had a quiet night at the dish yesterday, going 0-4 with two punchouts. He went 1-4 with two RBI's in Friday night's win and has hits in four of his last five games. The star first baseman is hitting .258 this season with a .756 OPS through the first 16 games. Alonso has faced Bumgarner in eight at-bats throughout his career, and he's collected three hits (two singles and a home run). I like Polar Bear Pete to go for at least two total bases this afternoon in the valley.

Bet: Pete Alonso Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100 via DraftKings)

Christian Yelich O/U 0.5 Total Bases

Sunday Night Baseball heads to the City of Brotherly Love tonight. It's the Brewers taking on the Phillies in the rubber match, set for 7:08 ET from Citizens Bank Park. Eric Lauer gets the nod for Milwaukee while Philadelphia opts for Aaron Nola to handle the starting pitching tonight.

This will be Nola's fourth start already this season. The right-hander is 1-2 over his three appearances in the new campaign, where he has posted a 5.52 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. He's struck out 16 batters, which ranks 31st in the majors. Most recently, Nola went 5.1 innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk.

Christian Yelich is slashing just .204/.322/.347 to start the season with one home run and seven RBI's. The left-handed-hitting outfielder has faced Nola in 23 at-bats in his career, and he's 9-23 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. Yeli has also collected hits in both games this series, so being on the big stage tonight, I like him to come through with at least one knock. Take the over on Yelich’s total bases tonight at -150.

Bet: Christian Yelich Over 0.5 Total Bases (-150 via DraftKings)
