Minnesota Lynx (-134) at Chicago Sky (+110) | O/U 165.5 (-110/-110)

The Lynx (3-2) and Sky (3-2) hook up on Saturday afternoon at Wintrust Arena for the front-end of a nationally-televised doubleheader.

Minnesota remains without superstar Napheesa Collier (ankle) as well as Dorka Juhasz (foot). The Lynx suffered a big blow when Czechia import Emma Cechova (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee last Thursday, ending her promising season.

The Sky know season-ending injuries all too well, as Rickea Jackson (knee) is done for the season, too, splashing cold water on her decent start. Meanwhile, DiJonai Carrington (foot) and Courtney Vandersloot (knee) are sidelined, so the Sky might be even more shorthanded than the visitors.

Minnesota is coming off a 100-72 thumping of the expansion Toronto Tempo on Thursday, cashing as a 6.5-point favorite. Despite Collier being in street clothes, the Lynx are a respectable 4-1 against the spread (ATS). The offense has gone for 88 or more points in four of its five outings to date.

The under has cashed in three straight games, as sportsbooks have bumped up the totals given the hot offensive start. Minnesota has allowed at least 84 points in four of the first five games, too, adding to the upward trend in the totals.

Chicago topped Minnesota 86-79 in the Twin Cities on May 17th as a 5.5-point underdog, the lowest scoring output of the season for the Lynx, while the under (172.5) cashed. Chicago has scored at least 83 points in four out of five games, while going 3-2 ATS to date.

The Sky are 1-2 ATS in three games, but that cover is the outright win as an underdog against the Lynx. The over and under have alternated in each of the first five games, while again cashing low in the first meeting against Minnesota.

In that first meeting, Jackson had six points before being sidelined. Gabriela Jaquez picked up the pace with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting, posting eight rebounds with a steal. Kamilla Cardoso had some foul trouble, but she still managed 11 points and 12 rebounds with three blocks. Natasha Cloud had a decent all-around game with 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds, all at the defensive end.

For the Lynx, Kayla McBride paced the team with 20 points, seven rebounds, four steals and a block against the Sky. Natasha Howard posted 17 points, nine boards, seven dimes, and two steals in her 29 minutes.

Let’s take the Sky to catch the points at home, as they’ve already shown they can beat the Lynx. However, don’t get carried away with a single bet. Chicago has lost eight consecutive home games against Western Conference opponents and 27 of the past 28 home games against teams with a winning overall record.

In addition, we’ll go under on the total. It has cashed in three straight for Minnesota, including the first meeting with Chicago. It’s a matinee start, and those games tend to be sluggish to begin.

For the player props, we’ll go with Cardoso to notch a double-double as she did in the first meeting. In addition, let’s go with a sure thing, taking Skylar Diggins to score 10+ points. That bet costs you nearly 10 times your potential return, so obviously, don’t play that straight up, as a $10 wager returns just $1.03.

Los Angeles Sparks (+310) at Las Vegas Aces (-395) | O/U 181.5 (-110/-110)

The Sparks (2-3) hit the road to battle the Aces (4-1) at Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. After losing their initial game of the season against the Phoenix Mercury, rather badly in fact, the Aces have rattled off four consecutive wins.

The Aces have managed a 2-3 ATS mark overall, however. This is just their second home game of the season, too, with the first a 99-66 loss to the Mercury in the opener on May 9th, as a 10.5-point favorite, while the under (167.5) cashed.

The Sparks posted a 97-88 win as 2.5-point underdogs on the road against the aforementioned Mercury, the Sparks’ first cover of the season after an 0-4 ATS start. The over (178.5) cashed in that game and has hit in three of the last four games.

Los Angeles will be looking to avenge a 105-78 loss to Las Vegas at Crypto.com Arena on May 10th in the season opener, failing badly as a 1.5-point underdog at home as the over (177.5) cashed. Los Angeles was outscored by 11+ points in three of the four quarters, with only a 27-13 advantage in favor of the Sparks in the second quarter of that outing.

In the first meeting, Nneka Ogwumike was good for 19 points, 10 rebounds and three three-pointers, while adding a steal. Dearica Hamby posted 12 points, while Kelsey Plum went for 27 points, including four triples.

A’ja Wilson managed 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while recording two blocks and a steal. But, it was Chennedy Carter who surprised with 22 points off the bench on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting in just 20 minutes. Chelsea Gray dropped in four triples while finishing with 16 points, and Jackie Young delivered 20 points with nine assists, five rebounds, a steal and a block.

We’ll go with the Aces to get the job done on their home court, posting the first win of the season at home. And let’s go high on the total.

For props, let’s keep it simple. It’s always fun to play a Wilson combo prop and let the stats pile up. She needs to reach a combined 36 points + rebounds + assists to get us a winning ticket. Or, you can simply go with Wilson to get a double-double (-105), if you like.
