Shortly after the news of Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander's injury, the Los Angeles Angels saw their odds to win the AL West division improve to +450. However, the Angels will be without star outfielder Mike Trout for the next couple of days as he is expecting the birth of his first child. As a result, the Angels are currently +480 to win the division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. (FanDuel Sportsbook)

Betting Impact:

Angels backers should always have been aware that the team would be without Trout for sometime, as he made his intentions very clear he would leave the team to welcome his new child. MLB rules stipulate the limit for a stint on the paternity leave list is three days, but there is no guarantee Trout returns immediately after if he fears health concerns and possibly affecting his newborn. Los Angeles's odds have also dipped in part because they have lost four of their last five games, including two of the last three to the Seattle Mariners. The timing of Trout's news is not great as the Angels are set to start a series with the Houston Astros this weekend.
