After taking a loss on Opening Day, oddsmakers like the Cleveland Indians' chances of earning a win behind the arm of Shane Bieber. Cleveland is -200 moneyline favorites over the Kansas City Royals, per BettingPros consensus odds.

Betting Impact:

Bieber's performance on Opening Day was likely a product of him pitching in a blizzard in Detroit. However, he still struck out 12 batters, and is one of four pitchers to do that in more than one Opening Day start. Bieber is 4-0 with a 3.70 ERA in seven career starts against the Royals. He is opposed by Kansas City's Jakob Junis, who has already made two appearances out of the bullpen so far this season. Though the coaching staff says he is stretched out to be a starter, it is still unlikely Junis goes past the fourth or fifth inning.
