With the Dodgers and Giants scheduled start just hours away, Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw was scratched from the start with a stiff back and will be placed on the IL. He is replaced by Dustin May, who becomes the first Dodgers rookie to start on Opening Day since Fernando Valenzuela in 1981. (ESPN)

Betting Impact:

The Dodgers were -305 consensus favorites before the news of Kershaw broke. Now that he is replaced by May, the Dodgers odds have lowered to -270. Those that placed a bet with the "listed pitchers" will have their bet refunded now that Kershaw is no longer starting. However, if your bet was an "action bet", you are stuck with your original wager even though Kershaw is no longer starting.
