Mets odds vs. Phillies plummet after deGrom scratched from start

The Mets opened as -190 moneyline favorites over the Philadelphia Phillies. However, after news broke that Jacob deGrom was scratched from his start due to neck stiffness, New York's odds plummeted all the way to +100 underdogs, according to BettingPros consensus odds. (BettingPros)

Betting Impact:

There are not many pitchers in the league who can move a line as much as deGrom can. He will be replaced by Walker Lockett who is making his 2020 debut. Mets backers who originally placed their bets earlier in the day would have had their bets refunded if they did a "listed pitcher" bet, meaning deGrom would have had to have started for the bet to be live. However, those that wagered originally as part of an "action bet" are stuck with the original odds they got regardless of the injury news.
