The Colorado Rockies own a slim 3-2 head-to-head season series edge over the San Diego Padres after last night's 10-4 victory in the series opener.

Betting Impact:

The Padres are -120 moneyline favorites, per BettingPros consensus odds. Today’s pitching matchup is between Nick Martinez (2-3, 3.74) and German Marquez (3-5, 6.09). None of the four games between the Padres and Rockies in San Diego last week had more than ten runs. In 23 of the Padres' last 27 games, the total has been 12 or fewer runs, and they had a 15-game streak in which they had no game hit 13 runs. Martinez has the worst WHIP (1.39) and second-lowest WAR (0.4) of all San Diego starting pitchers. In addition, he has allowed eight home runs in 55.1 innings, by far the worst HR/9 rate of all Padres starters.
