The New York Mets re-called left-hander Thomas Szapucki from Triple-A Syracuse to make his season debut in the series finale against the San Francisco Giants.
This line remains off the board for now, as the Mets did not release their starting pitching plans until recently. New York is in danger of dropping its second series of the season after splitting the first two games with San Francisco. Szapucki, who was 0-3 with a 2.86 ERA in seven starts for Syracuse, will have to contend with Joc Pederson, who became the 22nd Giants player in franchise history to hit three home runs in a game. The Giants counter with Jakob Junis (1-1, 2.70 ERA). Yesterday's 13-12 win by the Giants snapped a five-game losing streak.
