While the rest of the MLB regular season schedule is still to be determined, it has been confirmed that the New York Yankees will open on the road at the Washington Nationals. BetMGM is one of the first sportsbooks to post a line for this contest, making the Yankees -130 favorites while the Nationals are +110 underdogs. (BetMGM)

Betting Impact:

It is not typically common to see the defending World Series champions as underdogs at home on Opening Day. However, the Yankees are the clear favorites to win the American League pennant and figure to be trotting out new ace Gerrit Cole for his first ever start. Dating back to last season, Cole has not lost a regular season decision since May 22. However, the last team to beat him were the Washington Nationals who roughed him up for five runs in seven innings in Game 1 of last year's World Series.
