Titans place DL Teair Tart on COVID-19/reserve list

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Tennessee Titans won't have Teair Tart this week or next, as he's found himself on the team's COVID-19/reserve list. Today's game will go on as scheduled, but it'll be worth paying close attention to this as next week approaches in case more players end up on the list, too... View More

Betting Impact:

Tart's absence may impede Tennessee's ability to slow Houston's rushing attack today, but again, the bigger story is what this means moving forward. This story doesn't sway my pro-Titans read, but I'll be paying close attention to Tennessee's beat reporters in the coming days.

OG Graham Glasgow will suit up for Broncos

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Denver Broncos will have OG Graham Glasgow on Sunday. He was limited in Friday's practice with a late-week shoulder injury and received a questionable tag... View More

Betting Impact:

This is good news for Denver's offensive line, as Glasgow is a core component of their interior front. This is good news for over bettors, especially with Maurice Hurst sidelined for Las Vegas.

Colts without OT Anthony Castonzo and backup OT Will Holden

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Colts will be hard-pressed for depth at tackle on Sunday. They lost Anthony Castonzo to injured reserve earlier in the week, and reserve tackle Will Holden won't be available, either. They'll have to roll with some combination of OG Quenton Nelson, OT Chaz Green, and OT Braden Smith at tackle instead... View More

Betting Impact:

Indianapolis' offensive line problems are concerning, but they aren't enough for me to avoid betting on them -- yet. They still have enough depth behind Castonzo (excluding Holden) to succeed at the line of scrimmage -- especially against the Jaguars.

Broncos without DE Bradley Chubb

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Denver Broncos won't have DE Bradley Chubb in Week 17. He logged limited practice sessions on Thursday and Friday and had a legitimate chance to play, but he clearly failed to make the progress necessary to suit up... View More

Betting Impact:

Chubb hasn't done a ton for the Broncos this year, and he posted a single tackle for loss against the Raiders the last time these teams met. His absence shouldn't sway your read of the spread, but it's a good sign for over bettors.

Raiders officially without DT Maurice Hurst

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Las Vegas Raiders won't have defensive tackle Maurice Hurst against the Denver Broncos. He was listed as questionable heading into this one -- he missed practice on Wednesday but was limited on Thursday and Friday... View More

Betting Impact:

I expect the Raiders to cover this spread, but the loss of Hurst isn't insignificant. Their defensive troubles are well-documented, and they may have a harder time in the running game than otherwise. Consider tapping the over on a Melvin Gordon yardage total.

WR D.J. Chark out for Jaguars

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Jacksonville Jaguars won't have D.J. Chark this weekend, either, and they'll be hard-pressed for offensive depth as a result. It's no surprise that they're 15.5-point underdogs... View More

Betting Impact:

I don't know if the Jaguars will be able to cover given their lack of offensive depth, but since the Colts basically have to cover a three-score margin, I would recommend avoiding this spread in its entirety. The under is probably a safer option.

RB James Robinson out for Jaguars

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Jacksonville Jaguars won't have lead running back James Robinson this week. Robinson was a core part of Jacksonville's offense, and their running game will struggle without him around... View More

Betting Impact:

The Jaguars will struggle to put up points without Robinson. That said, they only need to crack a few big plays to cover a 15.5-point spread. I would avoid playing this line on either side; you're essentially betting on a backdoor cover if you play the Jaguars, and you're risking such a cover by playing the Colts.

Texans without OT Laremy Tunsil

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Houston Texans won't have starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil against the Titans. He was expected to miss time due to his doubtful designation, but the news is confirmation that he won't be able to suit up... View More

Betting Impact:

It'll be difficult for Houston to repeat their strong Week 6 performance against the Titans without some of their core offensive pieces. I'm siding with the Titans due to Houston's lack of depth.

RB Duke Johnson out for Texans

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Houston Texans won't have second-string rusher Duke Johnson this weekend. They'll have to continue relying on David Johnson if they want to beat the Titans, and Duke's absence speaks to their lack of offensive depth. They're now without three of their top four receivers and one of their two top running backs... View More

Betting Impact:

I like the Titans ATS this week because of Houston's lack of depth. It'll be hard for the Texans to hang 36 points on the Titans again without Will Fuller, Kenny Stills, Randall Cobb, and David Johnson.

Raiders are 6-1 ATS in last 7 against AFC West

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Las Vegas Raiders have been excellent ATS when facing divisional opponents this year. It helps that they're often underdogs against the Chiefs, which means they don't actually have to win... View More

Betting Impact:

I actually like the Raiders' chances of going 7-1 ATS in their division. They have only a 2.5-point margin to cover, and I think they should take down the Broncos by at least a field goal.

Over is 4-0 in Raiders' last 4 games

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The over has been a smart play in Las Vegas games lately, as it's hit in the team's last four showings... View More

Betting Impact:

While this trend points to some value, the line is set at 50.5, which is the third-highest on the slate. I would bet against recent trends and take the under here given how inconsistent both of these offenses have been.

Jaguars are 4-9 ATS in most recent 13 games

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Jaguars haven't been a great team to bet ATS most of this year. They started things off relatively hot, but they've cooled down considerably since then, which is reflected in their ATS record... View More

Betting Impact:

Sure, they're 15.5-point underdogs, but that spread is an indictment of how hapless their offense is. You're essentially betting on a backdoor cover by playing this line, and as a result, I'd avoid it.

Colts are 6-2-1 ATS in last 9 following losses ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Colts have played well after losses ATS. They just failed to cover against the Steelers last week, following a late-game comeback by Pittsburgh, but they'll look to bounce back against the Jaguars... View More

Betting Impact:

While I liked the Colts as two-score favorites, this spread is absurdly massive, and you run the risk of a backdoor cover by playing it. I would avoid it unless it ticks back down before kickoff.

Texans are 2-5 ATS in home games this year

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Houston Texans haven't been great ATS at home this year. They're a miserable 2-5 ATS at home to date, and they'll have a home matchup with the Titans on Sunday... View More

Betting Impact:

The Titans only have to score one more point against the Texans than last time to at least push -- and that's if the Texans can maintain their offensive production. I don't think that they'll be able to given their limited depth, however.

Titans are 4-1 ATS in last 5 after losing ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Tennessee Titans have been great ATS after failing to cover. They're 4-1 following such failures, and they'll be looking to bounce back after a rough loss to the Packers last weekend... View More

Betting Impact:

I like the Titans here. Although they failed to cover against the Texans last time, I expect that they'll have an easier time with Houston's depleted offensive depth.

Broncos are 8-2 ATS in last 10 following a loss ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Broncos have done a good job of bouncing back after losses ATS. They were 2.5-point underdogs against the Chargers last week but fell by 3, so they're in line to rebound against the Raiders... View More

Betting Impact:

While this is a notable trend, it's not one in which I would put too much faith. Some of these covers predate this season, and Denver's marginal loss ATS -- by a mere half-point -- may dilute its significance, too. With less than a field goal separating these teams, I expect the Raiders to end up covering.

Raiders and Broncos tied for the third-highest total of Week 17

by Isaiah Sirois | Raiders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos are tied for the third-highest projected point total this week. Set at 50.5, it's only below the TEN/HOU and MIN/DET games, and it's tied with ATL/TB... View More

Betting Impact:

Both of these teams struggle on defense. That said, I still prefer the under here, as their offenses have busted in good matchups. See: the Raiders against the Falcons (6 points); the Broncos against the Chargers (16 points).

Colts (-1250) are the biggest moneyline favorites of Week 17

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Indianapolis Colts are massive moneyline favorites this weekend. With their line of -1250, you'd have to bet over $1,000 just to win $100... View More

Betting Impact:

I would only bet this line as a parlay sweetener, but even then, the risk of an upset seems like it'd outweigh whatever marginal gain you'd make. This story is most notable for those in survivor pools, as the Colts are a lock to win, per this line.

Titans and Texans tied for the week's highest projected point total

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Titans and Texans are tied for the week's highest projected point total (55). The two teams combined for a whopping 78 points earlier in the season, so it's not surprising to see such a high total... View More

Betting Impact:

Despite the high total, I have a lot of faith in the over. I'm expecting the Titans to put up a ton of points behind Derrick Henry; the only question is whether the Texans' offense can put up the requisite points.

Colts (-15.5) gain a point and a half over the Jaguars

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

Uh, wow. The Colts are now 15.5-point favorites over the Jaguars. While the Colts are the only team with a reason to shoot for a win today, it's still a massive spread for them to cover... View More

Betting Impact:

I liked the Colts as 14-point favorites, but this spread is getting ridiculous. I wouldn't want to risk a backdoor cover by playing this line, but I wouldn't want to bet on one, either.

Titans (-7) lose half-point of their advantage over Texans

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Tennessee Titans opened the week as 7.5-point favorites over the Texans. Since then, they've trended down to just 7-point favorites... View More

Betting Impact:

The last game between these two teams came down to a six-point margin. However, the Texans have lost three offensive weapons (Will Fuller, Kenny Stills, and Randall Cobb) since then, and I expect the Titans to cover against their depleted offense.

Patriots without two starting OL on Sunday

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New England Patriots won't have starting center David Andrews and starting guard Shaq Mason for Sunday's game against the Jets... View More

Betting Impact:

The Patriots have had to make do with middling offensive line play for a while, which will continue due today, as they won't have a pair of starters. I don't think the Jets have the motivation or the talent to capitalize on New England's injuries, however, and they're still my pick ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New England Patriots will have DBs Devin McCourty and J.C. Jackson against the Jets this week. Both players were limited in practice all week and received questionable designations heading into this one... View More

Betting Impact:

It's not entirely unsurprising news, as the Patriots listed 20 players as questionable heading into this one, so we knew that most of them would suit up. New England continues to misuse the questionable tag, which is intended for players who have a 50% chance to play.

CB Bless Austin out for Jets

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New York Jets officially won't have starting cornerback Bless Austin for their season finale against the Patriots. Austin missed every practice this week with an illness... View More

Betting Impact:

Austin's absence will probably thrust backup CB Lamar Jackson (not the quarterback) into the starting lineup for New York, and he hasn't looked good this season. If the Patriots had a better quarterback under center than Cam Newton, I would be on the over in this one, but Newton's limitations as a passer mean that this news doesn't really mean all that much.

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

Sunday's matchup between the Patriots and Jets is likely to be Cam Newton's last start for the New England Patriots... View More

Betting Impact:

Although he's looked good at times, Newton just doesn't seem to have the arm strength necessary to remain a starting quarterback. I suspect that he'll be extra motivated to prove himself on Sunday, but he can't just will himself back into MVP form.

Patriots are 10-2 ATS when playing losing teams at home

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Patriots have played remarkably well ATS when up against losing teams in Foxboro. They boast a 10-2 record ATS in such recent contests... View More

Betting Impact:

I don't know how much faith I would put into this trend. Most of those victories ATS came before this season, but it's still an encouraging sign that Bill Belichick can take care of business at home. I'm tentatively optimistic that the Patriots will cover due to the Adam Gase situation, but I'll admit that most analysts are on the Jets for this one.

Jets are 4-1 ATS in last 5 against AFC opponents

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New York Jets have been playing pretty well ATS when facing conference opponents. They have covered in four of their last five conference matchups, which includes a win over the Browns... View More

Jets expected to fire Adam Gase after Sunday's game

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New York Jets are expected to fire head coach Adam Gase after Sunday's game against the Patriots... View More

Betting Impact:

Gase hasn't lived up to expectations in either New York or Miami, and the coach is unlikely to get another head coaching gig anytime soon. He won't be that motivated on Sunday, and I don't expect a team led by a dead man walking to play very well. Play the Patriots as field-goal favorites.

Jets and Patriots have lowest projected point total on the slate

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New York Jets and New England Patriots are projected for just 40 points this Sunday, the fewest in the league. Since the two teams are both bottom-five in points per game, it's not entirely surprising... View More

Betting Impact:

The Jets have actually been the better offensive team of late, as they've scored 23 points in back-to-back contests. Meanwhile, the Patriots have averaged just 8 points per game over their last three. The season-long averages also point to value on the under, as New England is averaging 19.9 points per game to New York's 15.3. If you're going to bet on this total, play the under.

Titans (-7.5) favored by 58% of experts ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Texans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Titans enter their rematch against the Texans as 7.5-point favorites. They topped them by six points in a high-scoring Week 6 duel, and 58% of experts expect them to win by at least an eight-point margin this time... View More

Betting Impact:

Derrick Henry should go nuts against the Texans. They've given up the second-most rushing yards on the year, and the big man should put up lots of points on Sunday. Houston's injury-riddled offense won't be able to keep up.

Colts (-14) favored by 67% of experts ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Colts Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Colts are currently two-touchdown favorites over the Jaguars. As of Saturday night, 67% of BettingPros' experts were taking them despite the massive advantage... View More

Betting Impact:

The Jaguars beat the Colts back in Week 1, but that feels like a whole different year. Since then, Jacksonville hasn't won a game, while the Colts are fighting for a playoff spot. While I do think the Colts will dominate on Sunday, a line like this runs the risk of a backdoor cover. Only play it if you're truly confident.

Jets (+3) favored by 60% of experts over Patriots

by Isaiah Sirois | Jets Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New York Jets are field-goal underdogs ATS heading into their matchup with the Patriots. As of Saturday night, 60% of experts were siding with them... View More

Betting Impact:

The Jets have strong recent form on their side -- they've scored 23 points in both of their last two games, while the Patriots have averaged just 8 points per game over their last three. I'm tentatively optimistic that the Patriots will rebound, especially because it's clear that Adam Gase is on his way out of New York. That said, I'd prefer to buy New England at -3.5.

The Las Vegas Raiders are only 2.5-point favorites against the spread, and as of Saturday night, 54% of experts were siding with them against the spread. That's virtually a pick'em at this point... View More

Betting Impact:

I also favor the Raiders... slightly. Las Vegas' defense hasn't been particularly great, but I don't trust Drew Lock to keep this one closer than a field goal. I would side with the home-team Raiders come Sunday.

Colts open as two-touchdown favorites over Jaguars

by Isaiah Sirois | Colts Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Indianapolis Colts opened as 14-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars got their one win of the season against the Colts back in Week 1, but both teams' seasons have gone in opposite directions since then... View More

Betting Impact:

This is a huge advantage for the Colts. They'll have the most motivation for this one, as they need the win to secure a playoff spot, but this is still a massive spread. You run the risk of a backdoor cover by playing the favorite, and I'd recommend that you look at some other lines before playing this one.

Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Patriots opened as field-goal favorites over the New York Jets heading into their Week 17 matchup. New England to down the Jets by a three-point margin earlier in the year... View More

Betting Impact:

The Jets are trending up while the Patriots are trending down. That said, with the news that Adam Gase won't return as the team's head coach next season, I don't expect Gase to be especially motivated this Sunday. Trust in Bill Belichick and trust the Patriots as a contrarian play here.

by Isaiah Sirois | Titans Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Titans opened the week with a 7.5-point advantage over the Texans. They just lost to Houston by three points two weeks ago... View More

Betting Impact:

The Titans will be more motivated in this one with the AFC South -- and a playoff spot -- on the line. Houston's rushing defense has been terrible all season, and I expect Derrick Henry to go wild in this one. I don't know if I'd play Tennessee with a 7.5-point advantage, but the over on Henry props should be a lock for this weekend.

by Isaiah Sirois | Chiefs Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Atlanta Falcons won't have starting LG James Carpenter and starting center Alex Mack for their Week 16 game against the Chiefs... View More

Betting Impact:

Their absence will make running the ball up the middle more difficult, and Atlanta may pivot to a more pass-centric offense given their holes in the interior of their offensive line. I still like them to cover here, however, as they could put up enough late-game points to pull it off.

The Kansas City Chiefs will have Tyreek Hill this week against the Falcons. Hill failed to practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday and Friday, but he'll play through his hamstring injury as the Chiefs look to lock up a first-round bye... View More

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |

The Chicago Bears won't have a pair of their cornerbacks this week. Both perimeter corner Jaylon Johnson and slot corner Buster Skrine will miss the matchup... View More

Betting Impact:

Their absences may make Mike Glennon's life easier, but the journeyman quarterback isn't someone to worry that much about. The Bears should still be able to hurry enough of his throws with their strong pass rush to compensate, and I still like Chicago ATS here.

Jaguars officially without RB James Robinson for Week 16

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Jaguars listed James Robinson as inactive heading into their Week 16 matchup with the Bears. The running back failed to practice all week but expressed optimism about playing, but the team declined to have him suit up for Sunday... View More

Betting Impact:

Robinson has been a key piece of this offense all season long, and I don't think that either of his backups, Dare Ogunbowale or Devine Ozigbo, will be able to replace him effectively. The Jaguars will struggle with Glennon under center and a backup in the backfield, making Chicago a good team to target ATS.

WR Jeff Smith will play through questionable tag

by Isaiah Sirois | Browns Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The New York Jets will have depth receiving Jeff Smith on Sunday. He was limited in practice all week with a shoulder injury, but he will power through it and take the field on Sunday... View More

Betting Impact:

Smith's presence gives the Jets some depth at receiver behind Mims, Perriman, and Crowder. New York's relative depth at the position is in stark contrast to the situation on the other side of the field, as the Browns won't have any of their starting wideouts this week. Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Bears and their opponents have combined for a lot of points when the Bears are listed as road favorites. Chicago currently has an 8-point advantage over the Jacksonville Jaguars heading into Week 16... View More

Betting Impact:

With the total set at 46.5, I'm cautiously ignoring this trend and playing the under. The Jaguars won't have leading rusher James Robinson, so it'll be all up to quarterback Mike Glennon to lead the charge against Chicago's defense. I just don't think that he'll produce enough points for the over to cash.

Under is 5-1 in Falcons' most recent 6 games as underdogs

by Isaiah Sirois | Chiefs Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The under has been a smart bet when the Falcons aren't favored, and they have often struggled offensive when Julio Jones misses time. That said, they overcame his absence last week to score 27 points... View More

Betting Impact:

Atlanta's secondary is too bad and Patrick Mahomes is too good for me to recommend betting the under. However, this should give bettors tapping the over some pause, as it may not be as much of a lock as it seemed earlier in the week.

The Browns have put up points following wins ATS. Unfortunately, they won't have most of their receiving corps this week, which is something they had every time this trend hit earlier in the year... View More

Betting Impact:

The Cleveland Browns haven't been good ATS when favored on the road. They sport a 1-6 record ATS in those matchups, and they're 6.5-point favorites over the Jets in New Jersey today... View More

Betting Impact:

I am somewhat conflicted about this line. On the one hand, Cleveland should employ a run-heavy attack, limiting the overall scoring and giving the Jets a better chance to keep this within a touchdown. On the other hand, I don't have much confidence in Adam Gase and Sam Darnold, and betting against them has been quite profitable. The Chicago Bears haven't covered the spread when listed as the favorite in their last five attempts. They're 8-point favorites against the Jaguars this week... View More

Betting Impact:

I think Chicago has a shot to buck the trend here, as none of the other five games came against teams with much of an incentive to lose. The Jaguars will keep the first overall pick with a loss today, and they won't have their leading rusher, either, so you should feel comfortable playing Chicago despite this trend.

The Kansas City Chiefs have strugged ATS of late. They're on a 1-5 skid ATS, yet they're the largest favorites of the slate against Atlanta... View More

Betting Impact:

The Chiefs haven't been bad, certainly, as they're 13-1. That said, the public has a bit too much confidence in them right now, and they may fail to cover a whopping 11-point spread against the Falcons this week.

Falcons are 7-3 ATS in last 10 as road underdogs

by Isaiah Sirois | Chiefs Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Atlanta Falcons have been a pretty good team ATS when listed as the road underdogs. They sport a 7-3 record in their last 10 matchups, and they're 11-point road underdogs this week... View More

Betting Impact:

The Falcons could easily sneak in a backdoor cover here with a long pass to Calvin Ridley. I still think that the Chiefs will lock up their first-round bye, but Atlanta could frustrate bettors who play the favorite with some late-game shenanigans.

Bears are fourth-biggest moneyline favorites in Week 16

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Chicago Bears have the fourth-largest moneyline advantage this week. They're outranked by only the Chiefs, Ravens, and Buccaneers.... View More

Betting Impact:

The Bears should get this win over Jacksonville, and their moneyline is a smart parlay sweetener for Week 16.

Washington and Panthers projected for fewest points in Week 16

by Isaiah Sirois | Commanders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Carolina Panthers and Washington Football Team are projected to combine for just 42 points this week. That's the lowest on the slate by a half-point margin... View More

Betting Impact:

My bet of choice will hinge on Washington's starting quarterback. If it's Alex Smith, roll with the over; if it's Haskins, the under is the way to go.

Jets and Browns projected for fourth-fewest points on the slate

by Isaiah Sirois | Browns Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Jets and Browns are projected to combine for the fourth-fewest total points in Week 16. With a projected total of 44.5, they're ahead of only CIN/WAS (42), PIT/IND (42.5), BAL/NYG (44)... View More

Betting Impact:

With most of their receiving corps sidelined, bettors are rightly expecting a low-scoring game. I think the under is a smart play here, as the Browns' run-heavy approach should drain the clock, and it's one of the safer plays on the slate.

Falcons and Chiefs projected for third-most points on the slate

by Isaiah Sirois | Chiefs Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons have the third-highest projected point total on the week. At 52.5, it trails only TEN/GB (53.5) and Friday's DET/TB matchup (55.5)... View More

Betting Impact:

Atlanta's secondary is atrocious, and even though the Falcons haven't been good without Julio Jones, Matt Ryan had his first good game without Jones last week. This could easily hit the over as the Chiefs look to clinch their first-round bye.

Chiefs favored by 58% of experts ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Chiefs Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Kansas City Chiefs are favored by 58% of experts to cover an 11-point spread over the Atlanta Falcons... View More

Betting Impact:

I don't hate Kansas City here, but there isn't much value in laying an 11-point favorite in what should be a high-scoring game, as you run the risk of a backdoor cover.

Bears favored by 68% of experts ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Jaguars Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Chicago Bears are 8-point favorites heading into Sunday's game against the Jaguars, and 68% of experts expect them to cover in the matchup... View More

Betting Impact:

With Jacksonville clearly tanking, the Bears are a smart pick here. Jacksonville has no incentive to lose the first overall pick, and Chicago should win by at least eight points.

Browns favored by 72% of experts ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Browns Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Cleveland Browns, despite their lack of wide receivers this week, are still favored by 72% of experts ATS as 6.5-point favorites... View More

Betting Impact:

I suspect that a healthy number of these picks haven't been adjusted from earlier in the week. That said, Cleveland is still a strong play here; I'm somewhat more sympathetic to New York, as the run-heavy game script should keep the scoring down, but a 6.5-point spread isn't too much for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to cover.

Washington favored by 57% of experts ATS

by Isaiah Sirois | Commanders Correspondent |
Sun, Aug 7th 12:43pm EDT

The Washington Football team is currently favored ATS by 57% of experts, making the game close to a pick-em... View More

Betting Impact:

I like Washington here, as do the majority of experts, but it's very close. I would play them even if Dwayne Haskins gets the start under center due to how much faith I have in the Football Team's offense.
