49ers' Garoppolo's availability against the Giants in doubt

Per Nick Wagoner of ESPN, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo missed practice with a high ankle sprain today, and is not expected to practice for the remainder of the week. That puts his status to play against the New York Giants in Week 3 in serious jeopardy. (Nick Wagoner)

Betting Impact:

As of now, nothing is definite as Garoppolo has not been officially ruled out. Thus, that is likely the reason for the betting line not moving from San Francisco -4. Should Garoppolo be ruled out later in the week, one would expect an onslaught of Giants money to come in despite the fact that they lost their best offensive player in Saquon Barkley to an ACL injury. If Garoppolo cannot play, he will be replaced by Nick Mullens who will get reps with the first team unit for the rest of the week. Mullens went 8-of-11 for 71 yards and an interception in relief of Garoppolo last week against the Jets. Mullens went 3-5 as a starter in 2018, throwing for 2,277 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
