After moving on from the Redskins team name, the Washington Football Team opens their new era as six-point home underdogs to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.

Betting Impact:

Not only is there a new era name-wise in Washington, but this will be their first game under new head coach Ron Rivera. He comes over from Carolina looking to instill the same kind of toughness and physicality his Panthers teams were known for. Meanwhile, Doug Pederson and the Eagles are looking to repeat as NFC East champions. This is the second year in a row the Eagles and Redskins meet in Week 1. The Eagles won last year's opener at home 32-27 as well as the rematch in Washington in Week 15 by a score of 37-27. Depending on the sportsbook, there are a lot of spreads of 6.5 floating around so be sure to shop for the best number depending on which side you are backing.
