2021 NFL Draft Prop Bets: Kyle Pitts Draft Position

Even in the offseason, the NFL tends to be king.

While NHL and NBA playoff races heat up, the NFL once again owns the sports landscape as all eyes are focused on this week’s NFL Draft in Cleveland, OH. Unlike other leagues, first-round NFL draft picks are often expected to produce right away, with enormous (partially guaranteed) contracts going to those first 32 players fortunate enough to be taken on Thursday.

With attention comes betting options, and the NFL Draft is increasingly not short on those. One such option, the “Draft Position,” lets bettors wager on a player will go over or under a pre-selected number.

Let’s take a look at one player’s posted number and see where the value remains.

Kyle Pitts Draft Position Over/Under 5.5

Rarely does a player come along at the tight end position that has the size and ability and to make a difference for a team day 1 at training camp. Florida tight end Kyle Pitts is that guy.

Described by many as a “generational talent,” Pitts comes in at 6’6″ and 246 pounds, a frame that will likely add 10-20 pounds of muscle in his first full season at the next level. In his senior season at Florida, Pitts reeled in 12 touchdowns and finished with an average reception length of 17.9 per.

Taking a look at the top of the board come Thursday evening, and offensive needs should be at a premium. While the top three are widely considered to be in near-stone with quarterback-quarterback-quarterback, the next two picks are a bit more in question.

Currently sitting at #4, the Atlanta Falcons could very well alter the fate of the rest of the first round with their pick. While some have speculated moving away from veteran Matt Ryan, I see no material indication of that. Not only did 2020 see him produce more yards and a higher rating, but his touchdown production held steady as well. Though his picks were up, the Falcons were often playing from behind forcing many risky downfield throws.

Adding Pitts to a receiving core that already features Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley seems too good to pass up. Expect the young tight end to be searching for a new home in Atlanta by the weekend.

Pick: Under 5.5 (-205)
