2021 NFL Draft Prop Bets: Quarterbacks Draft Position

As we sit now just hours away from the 2021 NFL Draft, question marks remain throughout the first round for nearly every team. One position that always ranks atop most team’s needs, some more than others, is a quarterback.

And there is no shortage of them this year.

While the 1-2 picks are considered virtually locked in as of this writing, with Trevor Lawrence-Zach Wilson expecting to go in that order, the other quarterbacks are decidedly less guaranteed.

Let’s take a closer look at three other likely first-rounders and where the value remains as far as betting on their draft position.

Justin Fields O/U 7.5

Despite narratives running rampant this offseason about Fields’ ability to make reads, a further look at the tape has all but dismissed those absurd claims; one would think. Even still, Fields is being projected by bookmakers to be the fifth quarterback taken Thursday despite being arguably the best overall player at the college level.

Is it the failed Ohio State quarterback narrative driving down his value? Is it fair? Either way, his stock has continued to plummet, and I think we see that show through tomorrow night.

Pick: Over 7.5 (+100)

Mac Jones O/U 3.5

Mel Kiper Jr. said just yesterday, while he leans Jones going #3 to the 49ers, it’s far from a guarantee. Though it seems GM John Lynch and even the fan base at large would rather go with Trey Lance, head coach Kyle Shanahan is said to be the decision-maker in the process.

Jones does, of course, have the significantly larger sample size of games, and against the top competition in college football at that. If his FBS record of completing 77.4% of his passes in 2020 can even remotely translate, 49ers fans should quickly forget about their predisposition for Jones.

Pick: Under 3.5 (-300)

Trey Lance O/U 7.5

Despite playing in the FCS ranks and sitting out the 2020 season, North Dakota State product Trey Lance has found himself sitting squarely inside the top 10 come Thursday’s draft. With the 49ers seemingly having their guy in Jones and Fields considered a more polished product day one in the league, I think we see Lance slip outside the top 10 when it’s all said and done.

Pick: Over 7.5 (+158)
