2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open: Best Longshot Picks & Predictions
With the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba in the rearview mirror, we look forward to this week’s Cadence Bank Houston Open in Texas. For the third straight year since returning to this location in 2020, Memorial Park Golf Course will host this event.
Looking at the top of the two previous leaderboards, the metrics that predict the most success at this course include SG: Putting and Greens in Regulation percentage (GIR%). A par 70, 7,412-yard track, Memorial Park is a course that rewards those who can get off the greens quickly.
Below, I will give out my two best longshot bets to win the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open.

Adam Hadwin (+5000): 0.2u
The first golfer we are targeting this week is Adam Hadwin, who sits at 50/1. A fantastic putter and strong iron player, this course sets up perfectly for Hadwin.
He has made the cut in eight straight tournaments dating back to last season. To kick off this season, he is 4-for-4 on made cuts and looked sharp in his T10 finish at the Shriners Children’s Open.
On TOUR this season, he ranks 20th in SG: Putting and 56th in GIR%. These strong numbers are not outliers despite the smaller sample size, as he ranked inside the top 75 on TOUR in both SG: Putting and GIR% last year.
Even though he has never played at Memorial Park before, It would not be shocking if he posted a top-20 finish, which makes 50/1 an intriguing proposition.
Danny Willett (+13000): 0.1u
The other golfer we are backing this week is Danny Willett, who is listed at 130/1. Entering this week rank 14th in the FedEx Standings, Willett looks to continue his strong start to the season.
Entering this week, Willett ranks sixth on TOUR in SG: Putting. This strong putting has led to some great results to begin the season as he finished second at the Fortinet Championship, T40 at THE CJ CUP in South Carolina, and T21 at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.
We are getting such a long number on Willett because he missed the cut at Memorial Park last year and W/D after the first round in 2020. However, his play so far this season has been extremely dialed in, particularly with hitting greens in regulation and getting off them quickly.
With his current form in mind, 130/1 is far too long of a number for Willett and his red-hot putter at this course.
