2022 Hero World Challenge PGA Tour Odds, Picks & Predictions

While (the lack of) Tiger Woods has dominated the headlines surrounding this week’s event in the Bahamas, 20 of the world’s best players will still be on hand for what should be another terrific event at Albany. With Viktor Hovland returning to defend his title, John Rahm (+500) and Scottie Scheffler (+750) lead the way on the odds board.

Let’s take a closer look at the event, the course and who might finish atop the leaderboard come Sunday in the Bahamas.

Previous Winners of the Hero World Challenge

  • 2021: Viktor Hovland
  • 2020: N/A
  • 2019: Henrik Stenson

Course Preview: Albany Golf Club

In what will be the seventh iteration of this event at Albany, the island course has a links-style setup that comes in at 7,414 yards and is a Par 72. As all courses are in this part of the world, Albany is covered in bermudagrass throughout, so we’ll be looking at golfers who excel on such surfaces.

Albany is also known for having limited rough area with the fairway going directly into penalty areas and/or sand. Designed by Ernie Els in 2010, the greens are known to be slower than most weeks on tour with players getting a good feel early on and producing scores in the teens.

Outright Betting Pick

Tony Finau (+850 on DraftKings Sportsbook

With three wins in his last seven events play, the markets continue to disrespect Big Tone. The last time we saw him on a course two weeks ago, Finau shot all four days in the 60s, including a Friday 62 on his way to winning the Houston Open with a -16 finish.

In his three starts here at Albany, Finau has a +2.81 True SG, which includes a runner-up here in 2018. While the season is young, Finau comes into this event top five in the world in SG: Total, SG: Off-the-Tee, SG: Approach, and SG: Tee-to-Green; and really without any noticeable flaw in his game. His scoring average of 67.23 per round also leads all golfers on the PGA Tour up to this point.

In what will be his fourth straight appearance in this event, I like for Finau to play well enough to be in the mix come Sunday and for him to be well within reach of taking home the top prize.
