2022 NFL Draft: Best Player Props to Bet Now
We are a week away from the 2022 NFL Draft, and we have tons of prop offerings and a solid idea of where players are likely to be selected now.
Here are two NFL Draft props that you should put some money on now.
Devonte Wyatt under 29.5 draft position (-114)
Devonte Wyatt is a 6’3″, 304-pound interior defender out of Georgia. He had a great combine highlighted by a 4.77 40-yard dash (95th percentile for position). According to Grinding the Mocks, Wyatt has an expected draft position of 24.8. He ranks 17th on PFF’s big board, 20th on ESPN’s, 20th on Daniel Jeremiah’s, and 23rd on Dane Brugler’s.
Many draft analysts are selecting Wyatt high in their predictive mock drafts. Peter Schrager, Lance Zuerlein, Dane Brugler, Jordan Reid, and more have all mocked Wyatt within the top-29 picks and as high as 13th overall. Wyatt is a great prospect coming from arguably the best defense college football has seen in years. He plays a valuable position that teams need, so it would be a shock to me if Wyatt falls below pick 29. This might be my favorite draft prop of the year.
Jermaine Johnson over 9.5 draft position (+105)
Jermaine Johnson is a 6’5″, 260-pound edge rusher out of Florida State. Johnson is a bit of an older prospect who broke out later in his collegiate career. He started his career at Georgia before transferring to Florida State, where he finally blossomed with a 12-sack season in Tallahassee.
He’s a long, athletic player who’s stout against the run and also showed he can get after the passer. Johnson has been a late riser in the draft process, fueled by an outstanding Senior Bowl performance. He’s clearly a good prospect, but top nine is just way too rich. He ranks highly on boards as he’s 10th on ESPN’s, 11th on Brugler’s, and ninth on Jeremiah’s.
However, he is down at 32nd on PFF’s board, who have concerns over his ability to become a high-end player with his late breakout and lack of explosiveness. Johnson is also 12th in expected draft position with an average pick of 11.9. He’s going to be at least the fourth edge defender off the board, if not the fifth. Many predictive mock drafters, including Schrager, Zuerlein, Brugler, Reid, and more, have all mocked Johnson outside the top-nine picks.
If this bet doesn’t hit, it will most likely be with Johnson landing at No. 8 or No. 9 to Atlanta or Seattle. Players such as Derek Stingley Jr., Kyle Hamilton, Garrett Wilson, and the quarterbacks will be available at those picks, so I don’t see Johnson going ahead of them. It’s possible, but there are too many good players in this draft for Johnson to go top nine. Shop around for this one as you’ll find it anywhere from -140 to plus money.
