2022 World Cup Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (11/28)

It’s been an eventful opening week to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and we’re starting to get an idea of who will push through to the Round of 16 and who will be heading home after just three matches. There haven’t been too many surprises in groups G and H as Brazil and Portugal both took care of business and collected three points in their opening games. However, in a stacked Group H, this second match day will have a major impact on the futures of South Korea, Ghana, and Uruguay. Let’s dive into each game and get the best bet locked in!

Group G: Cameroon vs. Serbia (Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakra; 1 p.m.)

Cameroon and Serbia each dropped their World Cup openers and are currently fighting for their tournament lives. The oddsmakers see the Serbians as a -145 favorite, while Cameroon comes back at +425, and the draw is +285.

While the African side comes in a sizable underdog, I think they have a great chance to hang around in this game and pick up a point. In their 1-0 loss to Switzerland, they managed 49% of the possession and actually outshot their opponent 8 (5 on goal) to 7 (3). Look for this experienced attacking duo of Eric Choupo-Moting (Bayern Munich) and Vincent Aboubakar (Al-Nassr) to cause some issues for Serbia’s defense. If Cameroon is going to pick up any points this tournament, they’ll come in this game. I think they’ll be able to do enough to force a draw against a pedestrian Serbian team.

Bet: Draw (+285 via DraftKings)

Group H: South Korea vs. Ghana (Education City Stadium, Al Rayyan; 4 p.m.)

For South Korea, securing a 0-0 draw in their first match against Uruguay should be considered a major victory. As for Ghana, they threatened Portugal several times throughout their opening contest but ultimately found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-2 loss. The Koreans are currently +150 to win, while Ghana is +205, and the draw is +215.

I’m going to roll with South Korea on the moneyline in the day’s second match. They’re coming off of that impressive draw against 14th-ranked Uruguay. Since they were able to shut down Edison Cavani (Valencia) and Luis Suárez (Nacional), I think they’ll have no problem with Ghana. Ghana also showed that they’re vulnerable in the midfield and on defense. Their lack of experience really hurt them late in the game against Portugal, and I think South Korea will be able to expose them once again. Let’s lock in South Korea here.

Bet: South Korea Moneyline (+150 via DraftKings)

Group G: Brazil vs. Switzerland (Stadium 974, Doha; 7 p.m.)

The top two teams in Group G collide on Monday, and as you’d probably expect, Brazil is favored to win (-205). Switzerland comes in as a +600 underdog, and the draw is +330.

Brazil looks like a team that’s on a mission, and I’m going to ride with them on the moneyline. It carries some juice at -205, but I feel like it’s the best option for this game. The ankle injury to Neymar (PSG) is worrisome, and I won’t feel nearly as confident laying 1.5 goals (+140) if he’s not on the pitch. However, there’s still plenty of firepower on this team with Richarlison (Tottenham), Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid), and Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal). Brazil fired 23 shots (9 on goal) in their 2-0 win over Serbia while controlling 59% of the possession. This squad means business, and I like them to collect another three points on Monday.

Bet: Brazil (-205 via DraftKings)

Group H: Portugal vs. Uruguay (Lusail Stadium, Lusail; 10 p.m.)

The heavyweight matchup of the night features a clash between Portugal and Uruguay. The European side comes in at -105, Uruguay is +310, and the draw sits at +240.

I’m locking in the over for the final match of the night on Monday. We saw Portugal’s scoring ability in their 3-2 barnburner with Ghana. The top trio of Cristiano Ronaldo (free agent), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), and João Félix (Atlético Madrid) is arguably the best in the world, and I expect them to set the pace and pepper Sergio Rochet (Nacional) with shots. With Uruguay’s tournament life on the line, they’ll be forced to match the intensity, and I think they break their scoreless streak. There should be no shortage of goals in this Group H showdown.

Bet: Over 2.5 Goals (+120 via DraftKings)
