2022 World Cup Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (12/5)

The Round of 16 is already halfway over, as four teams (Netherlands, England, France, and Argentina) have punched their ticket through to the Quarterfinals. Today, Japan takes on Croatia as Brazil and takes on South Korea as all four look to punch tickets of their own.

Let’s take a close look at two Single Game Parlays I have cooked up for today’s action.

Japan vs. Croatia (Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakrah; 10 a.m.)

  • Leg 1: Japan (+275)
  • Leg 2: Anytime Goalscorer - Ritsu Doan (+425)
  • Leg 3: Under 2.5 Goals (-145)

In the round of 16, Croatia, which finished second in Group F to Morocco, will play Japan on Monday. In Qatar, Japan unexpectedly won Group E after defeating Germany and Spain by scores of 2-1 and 1-0, respectively, while losing to Costa Rica by a score of 1-0.

Croatia, who finished second to France in 2018, has won four of their eight World Cup knockout round matches (W4 D2), while Japan has never advanced past the round of 16.

Croatia might have advanced from a group that also featured Belgium and Canada, but they were scoreless in two of their games; in 2006, 2014, and 2018 tournaments combined, they had only been scoreless in two of 13 games.

The tendency of Dalic’s team to control possession might work against Japan, however. Across their three group-stage games, they only controlled 32.3% of the ball on average. In fact, they had greater control of the ball in their one loss to Costa Rica (56.8%) than in their two victories over Spain and Germany (17.7% and 26.1%, respectively).  Japan has scored four goals, three of which were scored by substitutes. The Samurai Blue has received two of them thanks to Ritsu Doan.

Brazil vs. South Korea (Stadium 974, Ras Abu Aboud; 2 p.m.)

  • Leg 1: Brazil (-475)
  • Leg 2: Anytime Goalscorer - Neymar (-110)
  • Leg 3: Over 3.5 Goals (+110)
  • Leg 4: Both Teams to Score – Yes (+130)

A quarterfinal spot is up for grabs in the Round of 16 matchup between top-favored Brazil and high-energy South Korea, with the winner advancing to the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.

The Koreans will be relieved to have made it this far after Wolves forward Hwang Hee-stoppage-time chan’s goal earned them the unexpected victory against Portugal and allowed them to progress from Group H ahead of Uruguay.

On the last day of the group stage, Brazil had an upset of their own, losing to Cameroon 1-0. As it turned out, the Selecao maintained their lead over South Korea due to their superior goal differential.

In a friendly match between these two sides that took place in Seoul back in June, Brazil triumphed handily, 5-1. Even if a World Cup semifinal match ought to go differently, Brazil fans will be hoping for another landslide victory because Neymar is healthy after suffering an ankle injury in their tournament opener.

Parlay Odds: +475
