2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Betting Preview, Predictions & Top Pick

The now-elevated Waste Management Open is just a week away, continuing the trend that this isn’t always an event that draws many of the world’s top-10 players.

There are several players who have won major tournaments in the field, however, including Matt Fitzpatrick, the U.S. Open champion, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Rose,. Other elite players such as Viktor Hovland, and Tom Hoge, the reigning champion, will be the favorites in the betting markets.

Seamus Power, who won the Bermuda Championship, and players like Kevin Kisner and Matt Kuchar are among those who have had success here, while rookies like Davis Thompson, Maverick McNealy, and Denny McCarthy will be aiming for their first PGA TOUR victory in slightly more laid-back conditions than usual.

Of course, since this is a pro-am event, you’ll also see the swings of A-list celebrities from Hollywood (Jason Bateman, Michael Pena, Bill Murray, etc.), athletes (Aaron Rodgers), and many more.

Let’s look more closely at how things might develop throughout the week.

Course Preview: Pebble Beach Links, Monterrey Peninsula, Spyglass Hill

This week, Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula, and Spyglass Hill all host one of the first rounds (and the final 18 at Pebble) continuing the three-way cycle. They all have a few things in common, like being on the Pacific coast, being quite exposed to the weather, being short (Monterey and Spyglass are both under 7000 yards), having Poa Annua greens, and being nothing short of spectacular for the observe.

However, the greens are small, have numerous bunkers, and the crosswind from the ocean adds to the challenge a little, as no shortage of challenges lies in wait.

Outright Betting Pick: Joel  Dahmen (+4000

For the bucket-hat-wearing Joel Dahmen, who is a perfect 5/5 in making cuts in the AT&T Pro-Am and most recently recorded a T6 in the previous edition, I think there is some value here.

Dahmen is yet to tee it up in 2023 due to the birth of his first child, which is undoubtedly a little concerning but also intriguing due to the well-known dialed-in play that frequently goes along with new fathers. He did end the year of 2022 on a hot streak, finishing in the top 10 in each of his six final starts, including two top-five finishes. In SG: Total, throughout his last 24 rounds, he receives the highest rating in this week’s field.

While rust is certainly something to be wary of, I think we see Dahmen go low this week on familiar footing.
