With last week’s Wyndham Championship in the rear-view mirror, we now look forward to the first round of the playoffs with this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee. TPC Southwind will host this event for the second straight season.
TPC Southwind is a par-70, 7,243-yard track designed by Ron Prichard that features bermudagrass greens. Looking at the top of previous leaderboards, strokes gained on the approach is the key metric that separates the leaders from the rest of the pack at this venue.

2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship: Best Longshot Bets
These plays are 0.3u and 0.15u, or 0.3% and 0.15% of your betting bankroll.
Wyndham Clark (+4500 via BetRivers): 0.3u
The first golfer to target this week is Wyndham Clark, who currently sits at 45/1 via BetRivers. It has been a career year for Clark, who won twice this season and secured his first major championship with his victory at the U.S. Open.
Clark caught fire early in the season and never looked back, making 21 of his past 22 cuts with seven Top 10 finishes over that stretch. Not only did he win the U.S. Open, but his other victory was at the Wells Fargo Championship, a tournament that was also contested on bermudagrass greens.
His putter was on fire that week, gaining 1.87 strokes on the greens. In fact, Clark has gained strokes putting in each of his past three appearances on bermudagrass greens, finishing inside the Top 3 in two of those three outings.
He is also an excellent iron and wedge player, ranking 25th on TOUR this season in strokes gained on the approach. Clark finished 28th here last year in his first career appearance at TPC Southwind, and considering how much he has improved since then, we could see an eerily similar situation play out to Will Zalatoris’ victory here last season.
Corey Conners (+8000 via FanDuel): 0.15u
Another golfer to target this week is Corey Conners, who currently sits at 80/1 via FanDuel. Like Clark, Conners boasts a victory this season at a tournament contested on bermudagrass greens when he won the Valero Texas Open.
In fact, he has gained strokes putting in each of his past three appearances on bermudagrass greens, finishing inside the Top 10 in two of those three outings. Conners is also an excellent iron and wedge player, ranking 13th on TOUR this season in strokes gained on the approach.
Entering this week in good form, Conners has made nine of his past 12 cuts with three Top 10 finishes over that stretch. This success could continue at TPC Southwind, a course which he has made the cut at in each of his past five appearances.
