2023 NASCAR Futures Bets: Championship Best Odds, Picks & Predictions

I hope you didn’t blink! We are already 19 races (including non-point events) into the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season. If you’ve followed along with us here at BettingPros, it’s been an incredibly profitable year. We’ve hit eight of the 19 outright winners and many more best bets along the way.

There will be no race this Father’s Day Weekend as the national broadcast prepares to shift from Fox to NBC for the remainder of the NASCAR season.

Despite the bye week, there are still bets to be placed. With over four months’ worth of data to now consider, let’s tap back into the futures betting market and lock in our best bet to win the 2023 NASCAR Championship come November.

Martin Truex Jr. (+900)

What a bounce-back season for Martin Truex Jr. and the No. 19 team! We actually came into the season fading him, even taking the under on his season win total of 1.5. However, sports betting is about changing opinions and adapting when data presents itself. We’ve done just that, as we’ve been on both of Truex Jr.’s wins, hitting him 11-1 at Dover and, most recently, 28-1 at Sonoma.

Truex Jr. currently sits fifth in the odds to win the championship, behind Kyle Larson (+400), Kyle Busch (+500), William Byron (+750) and Chase Elliott (+850). While I think Larson and Busch both also have good shots to win the title, those numbers likely won’t shrink too much more as the season progresses. Truex Jr., on the other hand? I think 9-1 is the best number you’ll see from here on out.

Truex Jr. is currently leading the driver standings in points. He is also tied for the second-most T5s with five and the fifth-most T10s with eight. In addition, the No. 19 car has run the fifth-most laps, meaning he’s finishing races. That consistency will be huge when it comes to advancing into the later rounds of the playoffs – where Turex Jr. already has 11 points banked for.

Crew chief James Small and his engineers are souping up this hot rod, as they have been fast at nearly every track aside from superspeedways. According to ifantasyrace.com‘s total speed rankings, Truex Jr. has had the second fastest car year-to-date, behind only Byron’s No. 24.

Based on the cushion he’s building now, Truex Jr. should have no problem advancing to the Round of 8. Once there, he’ll run at Las Vegas, where he had a top-four total speed ranking and finished seventh. He’ll then face a wildcard race in Homestead. He finished sixth there last season and led laps. He was also second in total speed rankings at Darlington – its closest comp track. He’ll then conclude the round at Martinsville, where he finished third this spring.

The only pause on the No. 19 car to win it all is that he ran poorly by his standards at Phoenix – the host of this year’s championship race. Yet, he finished fifth at comp track Gateway, leading 56 laps, and had a top-four total speed ranking at another comp track, Richmond.

Everything is clicking on and off the track for Truex Jr. for the first time in a while. I’m excited to be a part of it and hope to be holding a 9-1 ticket for him to win come Nov. 5
