2023 RBC Canadian Open: Best Longshot Bets, Picks & Predictions

With last week’s the Memorial Tournament in the rear-view mirror, we now look forward to this week’s RBC Canadian Open in the greater Toronto area. Oakdale Golf and Country Club will host this event for the first time since its inception.

Combining holes from three different nine-hole courses on the property, Oakdale will play as a par-72, 7,264-yard track that rewards accurate ball strikers due to its sloping fairways and small greens with difficult undulations. Therefore, we will look at greens in regulation percentage (GIR%), fairways in regulation percentage (FIR%), and recent form to help narrow down our best bets.

Below, I will give out my two best longshot bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open.

2023 RBC Canadian Open: Best Longshot Bets

These plays are 0.3u and 0.15u, or 0.3% and 0.15% of your betting bankroll.

Mark Hubbard (+11000 via DraftKings): 0.3u

The first golfer we are targeting this week is Mark Hubbard, who currently sits at 110/1 via DraftKings. Hubbard is an accurate ball striker who sits above TOUR average in both GIR% and FIR%.

However, perhaps the best reason to back Hubbard at this price is his recent form. Entering this week playing some tremendous golf, he has made each of his past five cuts.

Over that stretch, he boasts four T30 finishes. Oakdale is a parkland-style course, a layout that Hubbard has fared well on this season.

He finished T30 at last week’s the Memorial Tournament, made the cut at the PGA Championship, and finished T27 at the Wells Fargo Championship. With his recent strong play, Hubbard has propelled himself to 69th place in the FedEx Cup Standings, and at 110/1, is worth taking a shot on.

Nate Lashley (+15000 via BetRivers): 0.15u

Another golfer to target this week is Nate Lashley, who currently sits at 150/1 at BetRivers. One of the more underrated ball strikers on TOUR in terms of accuracy, Lashley ranks 28th in GIR% and boasts a FIR% north of 60%.

Like Hubbard, Lashley enters this week in good form. Not only has he made four of his last five cuts, but he finished T27 at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Quail Hollow Club hosts the Wells Fargo Championship, which is another parkland-style course. The RBC Canadian Open has a relatively watered-down field this week as a lot of guys are taking off to prepare for next week’s U.S. Open, so now is a good opportunity to take some longer shots at a course that has never hosted a TOUR event prior to this week.

Best of luck!
