2023 Wyndham Championship: PGA Sleeper Odds, Picks & Predictions

With last week’s 3M Open in the rear-view mirror, we now look forward to this week’s Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. Sedgefield Country Club will host this event, which it has done annually since 2008.

Sedgefield is a par-70, 7,127-yard track designed by Donald Ross that features bermudagrass greens. Looking at the top of previous leaderboards, strokes gained putting is the key metric that separates the leaders from the rest of the pack at this venue.

Below, I give out my two best longshot bets to win the 2023 Wyndham Championship.

2023 Wyndham Championship: Best Longshot Bets

These plays are 0.3u and 0.15u, or 0.3% and 0.15% of your betting bankroll.

Brendon Todd (+10000 via FanDuel): 0.3u

The first golfer we are targeting this week is Brendon Todd, who currently sits at 100/1 via FanDuel. Entering this week in good form, Todd has made each of his past three cuts, including his runner-up performance at the John Deere Classic.

One of those made cuts also occurred at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, a tournament contested on a Ross-designed course. A strong putter, Todd ranks 20th on TOUR this season in strokes gained putting.

He particularly thrives on bermudagrass greens, evidenced by his T8 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship and T26 finish at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Todd gained 2.01 and 1.32 strokes putting, respectively, at those two tournaments.

Finally, he has made each of the past two cuts at this venue, including his 10th place finish in 2021.

Sam Ryder (+12500 via PointsBet): 0.15u

Another golfer to target this week is Sam Ryder, who currently sits at 125/1 via PointsBet. Ryder needs to hold steady this week to remain in the playoff picture, considering his 62nd place ranking in the FedEx Cup Standings.

This current placement is due to his T7 finish at last week’s 3M Open, and a similarly strong performance could be in store this week. An excellent putter, Ryder ranks fifth on TOUR this season in strokes gained putting.

He particularly thrives on bermudagrass greens, evidenced by his T3 finish at the Valero Texas Open, a tournament in which he gained 1.81 strokes putting. In fact, Ryder has gained strokes putting in three of his past four tournaments contested on bermudagrass greens.

Finally, he has been consistent at Sedgefield with four made cuts over five career appearances, and perhaps this is the year he gets over the hump and makes a strong finish.
