2024 British Open Best Prop Bets: Odds & Picks
The Open Championship, more typically known as the British Open, is golf’s oldest major, so despite the fact that it comes last in the major schedule and is played typically on a course that most PGA Tour fans are not familiar with, it receives a ton of fanfare.
This year, the rotation of courses lands on historic Royal Troon, a track that has hosted ten British Opens in the last 100 years, so some of the older players will be familiar with in from the 2016 event that saw Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson separate from the field by more than ten shots and battle each other on Sunday before Stenson pulled away down the stretch.
Due to its coastal location, this course, like any Open venue, can be ultra-difficult if wind and weather come into play, so really anything could happen!
Let’s get into my favorite British Open prop bets for this week and see if we can land the ship in the final major championship of the season.

Tom Kim
I love getting a finishing position prop on Kim at this price. The young South Korean, who now lives in Dallas, Texas, sets up very well for this event, given that Royal Troon is quite a similar setup to last year’s Open Championship venue, Royal Liverpool, where Kim finished T2, runner-up to champion Brian Harman.
The difference between Troon and Liverpool is a much heavier weight on approach play, which Kim should have no issue with. He ranks 18th in this field in Strokes Gained: Approach on courses that have a high missed fairway penalty like Royal Troon does, so I value his ability to get the ball in play here off of the tee and then use his irons to put himself in a good spot on the green.
Kim is an extremely accurate driver of the golf ball as well, a skill that should serve him well in this spot, just like it did Harman in 2023.

Cameron Young
One of the funny bets I’ve made this week is betting on Cameron Young because I refuse not to be on him in some way, shape, or form when he finally wins a PGA Tour event. He may not win this week (I worry a ton about his short game on these tiny greens), but he has a much better shot to finish in the top 20 at a very good price of +240.
Young, of course, has played well at The Open in recent years, finishing in the top ten in both of his previous appearances. He also comes into the event in form form, having finished in the top ten in his last two events as well.
He hits it farther than a lot of the guys in this field do, but he’s also accurate off the tee. He ranks fifth in Total Driving in the field, and at the 2023 British Open, was 9% more accurate than the rest of the field at a course that has similarly narrow fairways and penalties on both sides if you miss.
