2024 Masters Odds & Picks: Head-to-Head Matchups (Round 3)

Augusta National Golf Club took no prisoners during Round 2, with blustery winds creating some of the highest scorecards we’ve seen at the Masters. Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa, and Bryson DeChambeau are in a three-way tie for first place at -6-under-par, which means the field can make a run when conditions ease up over the weekend.

For now, we’re focusing on head-to-head matchups to wager in Round 3. These betting markets include 2-ball and 3-ball matchups, in addition to groups and top-in-region bet types. With so much golf left to play, it’s going to be fun wagering these head-to-head matchups on Saturday.

Shane Lowry (-150) vs. Akshay Bhatia (+110) 2-Ball Matchup

It’s only fitting that Shane Lowry and Akshay Bhatia remain paired up after making the cut. This will be their third time competing against each other at Augusta National this week, with each golfer splitting their round 1-1. Bhatia’s wire-to-wire win at Valero last week gave the young prospect plenty of confidence during his debut at the Masters. He’s ranked 12th strokes gained on approach, compared to Lowry, who is third in this metric. However, Bhatia is ranked 10th in Round 3 scoring average, while Lowry is 80th. At plus odds, we’re staking a unit on Bhatia to win his 2-ball matchup against Lowry on Saturday in Round 3.

Pick: Akshay Bhatia (+110)

Tiger Woods (+110) vs. Tyrrell Hatton (-150) 2-Ball Matchup

Tiger Woods’ record-setting 24th consecutive made cut at the Masters pits him up against Tyrrell Hatton. Hatton doesn’t have the physical ailments that Woods is seemingly battling on the course, however, his play is extremely volatile. We’re backing Woods, the five-time green jacket winner, to wind up with a lower score in Round 3 competing against Hatton, who wound up going +2 on Friday, while Woods managed to go even par during the difficult, windy conditions. Woods wants the outright win, but he’s got a lot left to get there, so

Pick: Tiger Woods (+110)

Cameron Young (-110) vs. Tommy Fleetwood (-120) 2-Ball Matchup

We’re getting close to a pick’em 2-ball matchup between Cameron Young and Tommy Fleetwood in Round 3. After missing the cut in his Masters debut in 2022, Young bounced back with a solid seventh-place finish in 2023. Fleetwood, conversely, has often struggled at Augusta, only managing a top-15 finish once in seven appearances. Young ranks 15th strokes gained on approach, compared to 165th for Fleetwood. However, Fleetwood averages nearly half a stroke better in Round 3. Ultimately, we’re siding with Young, who is better approaching the greens with a strong outing at Augusta National in 2023.
