2024 Masters Odds, Picks & Predictions: Collin Morikawa

It’s Masters week, which means we’ll once again have the pleasure of watching the best golfers in the world take on the greatest golf course in the world, Augusta National.

Augusta is golf paradise, a stunning, immaculately groomed beauty that’s home to some of the most iconic holes on the planet, including the par-3 12th and the par-5 13th. No other course tests a player’s course-management skills and short game quite like Augusta.

This year’s tournament has no shortage of compelling storylines. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is trying to extend his recent run of dominance and win his second Green Jacket. Young stars such as Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are hoping to break through and win at Augusta for the first time. The stars of the LIV Tour – including defending champion Jon Rahm and past champs Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed – will once again compete with their PGA Tour counterparts.

Welcome to the third annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to examine the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. Course History

Collin Morikawa has made just four appearances at Augusta National, making the cut all four times. After finishing 44th in his Masters debut in the COVID-19 delayed 2020 event, he has been superb in the past three times he has appeared. Morikawa has been 18th or better in each of the previous three Masters, including a pair of top-10 finishes in the past two years while shooting even par or better in six of his past nine rounds at Augusta National.

Recent Form

Morikawa isn’t exactly sailing into this Major. He has finished 45th or lower in each of his past three events, including a missed cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a 75th-place showing at the Valero Texas Open last week. He has also been over par in four of his past five rounds. Morikawa opened the season with three finishes of 19th or better in his first four events, but lately he has been a bit erratic.

Betting Outlook

Morikawa does good work around the greens, but once he gets onto the dance floor, he has really struggled with the steel. He ranks just 164th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: putting, well below the field average. He is pretty respectable in strokes gained: off the tee, but getting there is only half the battle. He has some rather long odds at most shops, and he has been good at Augusta National in the past. So, despite his shaky play lately, a small wager on Morikawa is warranted.
