Today’s 2024 NBA Summer League Best Bets
Here are our top picks for today’s 2024 NBA Summer League action.
Heat vs. Kings 2
The Kings 2 squad didn't have much professional experience heading into the first Summer League game. However, that didn't stop the Kings from adding a 108-94 win over the Lakers. Adonis Arms dropped 32 points, and Antoine Davis contributed 20 points off the bench. Ultimately, the Kings 2 shot nearly 62% from the field and hit almost 48% from downtown. Meanwhile, they'll play a Miami Heat team that didn't look prepared. The Heat lost to the Warriors, 105-66, and got poor production from the bench. Cole Swider led the team with 17 points, and Ke'lel scored 12 points and six rebounds. Therefore, don't be surprised if Kings 2 continues to shoot lights out from the floor against this Miami Heat squad.
Pick: Kings 2 -3.5 (-108)
Lakers vs. Warriors
Golden State has a new Thompson that can get buckets. Ethan Thompson added a team-high 27 points on 10-for-15 from the field off the bench. Daeqwon Plowden also dropped 26 points on 10-for-14 from the field in a 105-66 win against the Heat yesterday. On the other hand, the Lakers looked to have the most experience heading into the California Classic. However, Bronny James scored four points in his first start in a Lakers uniform against the Kings. Dalton Knecht, the first-round selection, only shot 3-for-12 from the field. The Lakers got good minutes from Blake Hinson off the bench, but ultimately, guard play wasn't a strength. I'll back the Warriors in today's showdown.
Pick: Warriors -5.5 (-108)
China vs. Hornets
The Hornets impressed on Saturday with a 97-65 romping of the Spurs. The team showed a lot of energy and have a lot of players with NBA and G-League experience up and down the roster. Many of the top draft picks for Charlotte over the last two seasons aren’t suiting up for the Summer League team as they’re either injured or training with Team USA like Brandon Miller. Therefore you have a lot of guys without roster spots in the NBA looking for that chance. The Hornets had six players in double figures on Saturday and against a Chinese national team that struggled against a talented Kings’ roster, we should see more of the same. The Chinese team couldn’t shoot, rebound or defend well enough to keep pace with the Kings and against a team that showed fight like the Hornets, I expect another blowout.
Pick: Hornets -37.5 (-110)

Spurs vs. Kings
The Charlotte Hornets dominated the Spurs in their summer league opener, 97-65. San Antonio’s defense looked confused at times, and the offense couldn’t make a shot (22-79 from the floor). They looked like a bunch of guys thrown together and given jerseys at the last moment. Stephon Castle had a few pleasant moments, but they were few and far between. As for Kings 1, Sacramento opened summer league play vs. the team from China. Although, it wasn’t much of a game since China struggled in just about every facet of the game. But with how San Antonio looked against Charlotte, the Spurs will not put up much of a fight, either. The Kings will probably cover, but we recommend betting the UNDER rather than the spread.
Pick: UNDER 163.5 (-113)
