Pacers vs. Suns

The Pacers are 0-2 in the Summer League with losses to Brooklyn and Minnesota. Ultimately, the defense has been weak. Indiana allowed 105 to Minnesota last time out and gave up 97 (in overtime) to Brooklyn. The Pacers have some big names on the roster, including Ben Sheppard and Jabari Walker. They've also got some height between Oscar Tshiebwe and Enrique Freeman. That said, Indiana has only played a nine-man rotation throughout the Summer League. They'll take on a Phoenix Suns team that lacks depth. In Phoenix's first game, the Suns lost to the Warriors 90-73. Only two starters scored more than eight points, and no player on the bench added more than seven. Phoenix was terrible from downtown and added just 13 assists in that game. I like Indiana to finally get their first win of the Summer League in today's game.

Knicks vs. Nets

The Knicks ran into Brandon Miller and the Hornets in their first game. Duane Washington Jr. set the tone with 26 points, and Jacob Toppin added 19 points to the loss. Meanwhile, the Knicks played three rookies in the starting lineup. Those three names were Pacome Dadiet, Ariel Hukporti, and Tyler Kolek. None of these guys had major offensive games. However, Kolek recorded seven points, seven assists, and seven rebounds in the loss. Meanwhile, the Nets closed their second game with a loss to the Clippers. The team has no depth, but the starting lineup is excellent. Keon Johnson led the team with 27 points on 9-for-16 from the field. The squad also has Jalen Wilson, Dariq Whitehead, and Noah Clowney. The Nets are a team filled with experience, especially in the starting lineup. The Knicks don't have that. Take the Nets.

Hornets vs. Nuggets

The Nuggets have been one of the lower-scoring teams in Las Vegas this week. They’ve averaged 79.5 points per game and they’ve played at a pretty slow pace compared to many of the squads in the desert. They’ll take on a Hornets team that looked impressive in a 94-90 win in their opener against the Knicks. The Charlotte Summer League team was led by Brandon Miller and Nick Smith Jr, and although they may play on Tuesday, there is a good chance they get limited to no minutes after some initial run. That means the Hornets will be looking to some less familiar faces to lead the offense like Zavier Simpson a G-League veteran and Tidjane Salaun, the lottery pick. These guys are capable, but not the scoring threats of Miller or Smith. This game should run similar to the script of the previous Nugget games in Vegas and trend to the under.

Bulls vs. Pistons

The Bulls and Pistons have had mixed results in Vegas so far, with each side splitting their two games in the desert. Chicago posted a 96-89 win over the Bucks on Saturday, but it suffered a 92-82 loss against Golden State Sunday on no rest. Meanwhile, after losing 94-81 to the 76ers, Detroit bounced back Monday with an 87-73 win over the Rockets. Now, Detroit will be playing on no rest. The second end of a back-to-back usually doesn’t end well for a young team in Vegas. Run with the Bulls, as they have to simply win by three points against a tired Pistons team to get the job done.

Pick: Bulls -2.5 (-110)

Sixers vs. Timberwolves

As exciting as the win over the Pistons was, Monday's loss to the Trail Blazers shows the 76ers are far from a finished product. Ricky Council IV had a decent night with 18 points but got half of it from the free-throw line after struggling with his shot (4-11 from the floor). They were poor from behind the arc, again connecting on seven of 27 attempts. As for the T-Wolves, they've gotten it done with defense and offense in summer league play, winning a low-scoring game vs. the Pelicans and a high-scoring one over the Pacers. Terrance Shannon Jr. has been playing well, and Ronald Dillingham has shown improvement in just two games. Both teams have shown they can score some points, which has us leaning towards the OVER.

Wizards vs. Trail Blazers

The Wizards picked up a 94-88 win against the Hawks in the opening game in Vegas, but they were trampled by the Rockets, 109-91, and defense hasn’t exactly been a hallmark for Washington so far. The Trail Blazers lost a low-scoring game to the Spurs in the opener Saturday, 83-77, but they bounced back on Monday night with a narrow 97-95 win over the 76ers. However, Portland will be playing on no rest, and that usually doesn’t lead to a lot of success for a young team in Vegas. Blazers rookie was 1-of-8 shooting in the opener, and 4-of-11 on Monday night, posting eight points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. He has a bright future, and defensively he has been strong. However, the offense is a slow-go for the former UConn product. Roll with Washington to get the job done, as Portland can’t be trusted in the second end of a back-to-back.

Clippers vs. Bucks

The winless Bucks will get a chance to pick up their first victory in Las Vegas on Tuesday. The offense hasn't really been able to get going through two games, scoring 85 ppg, but it's the defense that has been more disappointing. They've allowed 96 and 112 points in the two losses. Up next they'll get a Clippers team that is looking very comfortable, especially on the defensive end. Opponents have had a lot of issue scoring on this Clipper team as they've allowed just 78 ppg. Jordan Miller has really impressed while scoring almost 30 points per game. Against this Milwaukee defense, he could be in line for another big game.

Pelicans vs. Spurs

San Antonio has gone from looking awful in the California Classic to winning two in a row in Las Vegas. However, don't get too excited about them just yet. Their play is still sloppy and lacks cohesion, much like summer league teams often do. But they have lost the best player on the roster, rookie Stephon Castle. He'll be out for the rest of Summer League play. The Pelicans have brought a very young team to Vegas, and it has played like one. Without Castle in the lineup, this game hasn't much to get excited about. Neither team has figured out how to generate much offense and probably will not do so in this game.
