Today’s 2024 NBA Summer League Best Bets
Here are our top picks for today’s 2024 NBA Summer League action.
Grizzlies vs. Sixers
Ricky Council IV starred in his first Summer League game of the season. The former Wichita State and Arkansas guard poured in 29 points and added eight rebounds on 50% shooting. Meanwhile, first-round pick Jared McCain contributed 15 points. The 76ers' depth is weak on paper, but they still got four players to score at least six points from the bench in a 102-92 win over the Thunder yesterday. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies fell to the Jazz last night in overtime, 97-95. Zach Edey had a monster game, with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Memphis has much experience with starters like Jake LaRavia and GG Jackson, who are still playing in the Summer League. Even Cam Spencer joined the fun, scoring 11 points off the bench. Like the 76ers, the Grizzlies don't have much depth on the bench. But they've got a lot of experience that should at least get them a win tonight.
Pick: Grizzlies ML (-102)

Thunder vs. Jazz
Both of these squads played their summer opener on Monday. The Thunder fell to a red-hot 76ers team that shot nearly 50% from the floor. Oklahoma City didn’t show much aggressiveness on the offensive end. As a team they only attempted 14 free throws and it was only three players that got to the line. Meanwhile, Utah gritted out a win over the Grizzlies. Shooting was not on full display by either team and neither was ball security as the Jazz turned it over 21 times. With a game under their belt, I would be shocked to see players like Keyonte George or Walker Kessler get many, if any minutes for Utah on a second straight night. Oklahoma City doesn’t have as many top end DNP candidates so I would give them a slight edge on the spread in this matchup. However, I think the pace slows down a bit after a fast start in both games on Monday and we see an under in this matchup.
Pick: Total Under 178.5 (-110), Lean Thunder +5 (-110)

Hornets vs. Kings
On paper, this is a very intriguing matchup. Both teams have played Team China and crushed them, Kings 1 by 51 and Charlotte by 31. They have also faced San Antonio, each recording a relatively easy win, with the Hornets winning by 32 and Sacramento by 26. Both teams are playing solid basketball with a roster of players no one has ever heard of. So-who has an advantage and why? Charlotte has the edge because the Hornet’s head coach coaches the Summer League team. He’s a new hire, but having an actual head coach in charge gives Charlotte an advantage over a team whose coach has no experience.
Pick: Hornets -1 (-110)

Spurs vs. China
China has already faced the Kings (1) and Hornets. They've lost by at least 30 points in both matchups. Additionally, China has allowed at least 93 points in each game and has not scored more than 62. In both games, no player has received more than 22 minutes for China in either game. On top of that, China has played all 15 players at least nine minutes in each game. China is already not at the level of Summer League NBA Talent. But playing all 15 players has made it even more of a disaster. That said, the Spurs haven't looked much better. They've also lost by 25+ points in both games against the Kings and the Hornets. But I still trust a shorter rotation of potential NBA talent over China. Take the Spurs to add a massive win over China.
Pick: Spurs -28.5 (-110)
