Today’s 2024 NBA Summer League Best Bets
Here are our top picks for today’s 2024 NBA Summer League action.
Heat vs. Mavericks
The Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks got a full day of rest yesterday. Dallas probably needed it more. The Mavericks have scored at most 89 points in two Summer League games this season. They've also lost both matchups, including a 108-88 defeat against the Grizzlies. The Mavericks are getting the most from Oliver-Maxence Prosper and A.J. Lawson. Emanuel Miller has been the only one getting a lot of minutes off the bench. Mostly, this team doesn't have a bunch of bonafide scorers. However, the Heat do. They're led by Jaime Jaquez Jr., who added 23 points in 25 minutes against the Thunder. Meanwhile, Josh Christopher came off the bench and added 23 points in a 102-73 win against Oklahoma City. Jaquez and Christopher are legitimate scorers. In addition, Kel'el Ware earned his first double-double in a Miami Heat jersey, with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Miami can win the entire Summer League. Back Miami to earn the win in a rout.
Pick: Heat -4.5 (-110)

Kings vs. Knicks
The Knicks earned a solid haul during the NBA Draft. This Summer League, they're working those guys from the draft. Ariel Hukporti, Tyler Kolek, and Pacome Dadiet are all getting significant minutes and starts. This haul could become good, but those guys aren't ready to lead in the Summer League, especially not against other teams with more experienced players. The Kings have more experience in the starting lineup, including Drew Timme and Keon Ellis. Colby Jones also added 25 points in this game. However, the Kings have a weak bench, just like the Knicks. Neither team has major threats offensively when the starters get out of the game for a breather. Therefore, the Under 173.5 is appealing.
Pick: UNDER 173.5 (-110)

Raptors vs. Jazz
The Raptors and the Jazz tangle at the Thomas & Mack Center at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2/ESPN+. Toronto has won both of its games in Vegas, while Utah has split a pair. The Raptors routed OKC on Saturday, 94-69, while it eased by Denver 84-81 in the second end of a back-to-back situation. The Jazz nipped Dallas 90-89 on Saturday, before tumbling 82-70 against Sacramento on Monday. Both teams aree rested and raring to go, and we could see a decent amount of points. Toronto has averaged 89.0 PPG in two Summer League games in Vegas, while Utah is good for 86.0 PPG. With a total of just 172.5 on the board, it’s a good idea to go high.
Pick: UNDER 172.5 (-110)

Celtics vs. Hornets
Charlotte fans may not want summer league play to end-because their team is actually pretty good! After going 3-0 in the California Classic, the team picked right up where it left off in Vegas, notching wins over the Knicks and Nuggets. Head coach Charles Lee has been getting some great play out of his young team, especially Nick Smith Jr. and Brandon Miller. In a high-scoring loss, the Celtics got a solid showing from Baylor Scheierman, Jaden Springer, Neemias Queta, and JD Davidson in the opener vs. the Heat. While they beat the Lakers in their second game, it wasn't an overly impressive outing. Boston has shown some potential for offense, but the Hornets have been playing good, all-around basketball. Charlotte could upset the Celtics in this game.
Pick: Hornets ML (+112)

Grizzlies vs. Magic
The Grizzlies have been one of the most exciting teams in the Las Vegas Summer League so far. Led by Jake LaRavia and GG Jackson, they’ve won each of their first two contests by 20 points. They’ll take on a Magic team that also is undefeated through two games. Rookie Tristan de Silva and second-year Jett Howard have led the way for the Magic, as they’ve been one of the few teams to really shoot the ball well while in Las Vegas. With a couple days off between games for both of these teams we can expect to see many of these stars in this game that may play a big role in determining the winner of the Las Vegas Summer League. We should expect a high-scoring affair by two of the more talented Summer League squads.
Pick: OVER 186.5 (-110)
- Ryan Rodeman
Suns vs. Thunder
The Thunder have struggled in Vegas. Averaging just 71 ppg in their two contests, Adam Flagler and Ajay Mitchell have had success scoring but the team as a whole has shot horribly with just a 34.9% FG% through two contests. They’ll get a Suns team that is winless, but after a blowout loss in game one, they lost a close one to the Pacers on Tuesday. They got off to a hot start, but the defense fell apart in the second half to allow 54 points. With a back-to-back on the schedule here, we can expect some tired legs and poor defense out of Phoenix. This might be just what the Thunder need to get going. Either way, this should be a higher scoring game than the books are expecting and the over is the play.
Pick: OVER 173.5 (-110)
- Ryan Rodeman
Lakers vs. Hawks
The struggle has been all too real for the Lakers in summer league play this year. They struggled in the California Classic, and it appears that those issues followed them to Vegas. Dalton Knecht has played well, scoring 25 vs. the Rockets and 19 against the Celtics. He is the one bright spot for LA. Bronny James has looked like someone who could have used another year or two in college. As for Atlanta– Zaccharie Risacher is an impressive player. He had 18 in his debut vs. the Wizards but just 11 against the Spurs, where he struggled with his shot. Otherwise, the Hawks have struggled. This matchup is one of those games where someone has to win, but you just don't know who since neither team has been competitive; Zaccharie Risacher and Dalton Knecht can only do so much. However, in such games, you can often count on a relatively low score.
Pick: UNDER 172.5 (-110)
- Travis Pulver
Warriors vs. Cavaliers
The Warriors have won each of their two games in Vegas so far, and the average margin of victory is 8.5 points per game. The Cavaliers were routed 106-79 by the Magic on Friday before they paddled the Bucks 112-81. Golden State has been a little more consistent, and it is the play to get the job done by just a bucket. Emoni Bates is getting a nice long look with the Cavaliers, as the former MAC standout looks for a role in the fall with the big club. He needs to be more than a one-trick pony, and that’s what Summer League is all about. Craig Porter Jr. and Luke Travers are solid pieces of the Summer League puzzle for Cleveland, and that will keep it in the game. But the Warriors have Brandin Podziemski, who is coming off a double-double against the Bulls on Sunday. He will be the difference maker, helping the Warriors pull away in the second half.
Pick: Warriors -1.5 (-110)
