2024 Paris Olympics Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (8/4)
How will the USA women's basketball team perform against Germany? Will Spain and Croatia enter into another high-scoring handball game? And who will win the men's 100-metres final?
Here are the three best bets for Sunday, August 4 at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sunday’s Best Olympic Bets
Women's Basketball: Germany +19.5 (-112) vs. USA
The American and German women's basketball teams meet in a battle of the two remaining undefeated Group C countries. While the Americans are putting the better team on the court on Sunday, this is way too large of a spread.
The Americans only beat Belgium by 13 in their last meeting. Germany beat them by 14 earlier in the tournament. We're not going to emphasize the point difference too much, but the fact remains this German team is very good and they have proven that throughout this tournament. The Americans will win by double digits, but they won't win by more than 19, as the German WNBA players keep this one close.
Men's Handball: Spain vs. Croatia Over 57.5 (-120)
Croatia has been the third-worst defensive team at the Olympics, allowing 124 goals in four games. In their last game, they allowed 38 goals to Sweden. While the Swedes have been good in this tournament, they're not the best offensive team by any means. Croatia just has a serious issue on defense right now.
Spain has scored 119 goals in this tournament, the third-most of any team. They've also allowed 117, the fourth-most thus far. These are two teams that like to get up and down the court and have both scored and given up more than 30 goals on multiple occasions at this tournament. Do not be surprised if both of these teams clear 30 on Sunday.
Men's 100-Metres: Noah Lyles (+130)
The men's 100m final will come down to two runners. One is Jamaica's Kishane Thompson, who has run 9.77 seconds and is favored to win. However, Noah Lyles of the USA could pull off a slight upset in this race if all goes right.
Lyles ran a personal best of 9.81 earlier this year. For a difference of .04, to get Lyles for +130 compared to -160 for Thompson presents great value. When you consider these two runners are the only two competing for gold, there is no reason not to take a little chance on the slight underdog.
