2024 PGA Championship Odds & Picks: Head-to-Head Matchups

With the 2024 PGA Championship set to tee off at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky for the second major of the PGA Tour season, we’re ready to reveal a couple of exciting head-to-head matchups to wager. In golf, there are numerous unique betting markets to explore, but head-to-head matchups are a lot of fun.

In this article, we’ll focus on two specific head-to-head matchup props to bet on. Both of these wagers need to stay intact for the entirety of the four rounds played at the 2024 PGA Championship to yield a winning payout by the end of the tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Group F Winner

At FanDuel, there is a betting market for head-to-head matchups labeled Group. There are seven total groups that consist of five players each, although there are 156 total players who qualified to compete in the field at Valhalla.

Aussie golfer Jason Day is valued as the favorite within Group F ahead of Round 1. Day is playing pretty well, coming off of a T4 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship this past weekend. In 2014 at Valhalla, Day recorded a T15 finish, scoring 9-under-par. He’s competing against Min Woo Lee, Sungjae Im, Talor Gooch, and Shane Lowry in Group F. Im and Gooch will likely be the biggest challengers to this wager, however, Day tends to perform well at majors.

Ranked 13th strokes gained putting and 15th strokes gained around the green, the Aussie veteran won the 2015 PGA Championship and has 13 total wins since joining the PGA Tour in 2008. Four top-ten finishes, including his latest T4 effort at Quail Hollow during the Wells Fargo Championship, makes Day a prime contender to win this group at +280 odds.

Pick: Jason Day (+280)

Top South Korean

Another exotic betting prop to target is the Top in Region market. This betting market breaks down a golfer’s odds based on his nationality and how he’ll fare against others from the same region competing in the PGA Championship.

Byeong Hun An is the current betting favorite in the Top South Korean market, valued at +260 odds. He’s slightly shorter than Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im, who both sit at +280 odds. An has played extremely well in the past two events, generating a T4 finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and a solo third-place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship this past week. He’s also ranked 21st strokes gained tee-to-green, 21st strokes gained off-the-tee, and 16th total driving. Plus, An is 12th for greens in regulation rate and 21st for hole proximity.

During the first major held at Augusta National, An recorded a T16 finish, winding up 2-over-par. His PGA Championship resumé isn’t the most impressive in the field, but his last appearance at this major came in 2021, when An recorded a T49 finish at The Ocean Course. A T22 finish at TPC Harding Park in 2020 was his strongest outing, and based on his current form, An is a great value at +260 odds to edge out his South Korean counterparts at Valhalla this week.

Pick: Byeong Hun An (+280)
