2024 TOUR Championship Odds & Picks: Head-to-Head Matchups
After a long 2024 PGA Tour season, it all wraps up with the final FedExCup playoff event at the TOUR Championship. Hosted at a renovated East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, the 30 golfers who qualified for this prestigious finale will tee off with starting strokes implemented.
Scottie Scheffler sits atop the leaderboard for the third consecutive year at 10-under-par, with Xander Schauffele close behind at 8-under-par. The rest of the field hovers between even par and 7-under-par, as Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, and Ludvig Åberg occupy 7-under-par through five-under-par on the opening leaderboard with this starting strokes format.
In this article, I’ll be offering two 72-hole match props for head-to-head picks, each worth a one-unit stake. Please note that on FanDuel Sportsbook, this 72-hole matchbet prop does not factor in the starting strokes format in pricing or for settlement. 72 Hole Matchbet Justin Thomas vs. Christian Bezuidenhout
Christian Bezuidenhout and Justin Thomas are two of the five golfers in the even par range at East Lake. Thomas was 30th in the field and the last golfer to qualify for the TOUR Championship after missing the entire FedExCup playoffs in 2023.
Bezuidenhout is the underdog in this 72-hole matchbet prop but he’s being mispriced by oddsmakers. The South African is gaining +1.3 total strokes, compared to +0.99 for Thomas. Bezuidenhout is also second SG: putting, while Thomas ranks 30th SG: putting in this field. Both golfers are good at scrambling but I give the edge to Bezuidenhout who has had a solid 2024 campaign.
Pick: Christian Bezuidenhout (+125)
72 Hole Matchbet Xander Schauffele vs. Scottie Scheffler
The matchbet that every golf fan and bettor should be anticipating is between Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele. Scheffler has yet to win the FedExCup title despite sitting in this exact position during the previous two years at the TOUR Championship.
Now, Schauffele is only two strokes back, following two major wins in 2024. The Californian is first SG: putting in this field, second in total strokes gained, second SG: tee-to-green, and third SG: approach. Scheffler’s one weakness is a big one and it’s his inability to putt.
Expect Schauffele to get hot at East Lake, where he’s been historically dominant, applying pressure to Scheffler and winding up with a lower score by the end of Sunday’s final round to cash this prop at plus odds.
Pick: Xander Schauffele (+110)
