2024 U.S. Open Odds & Picks: Wyndham Clark
The U.S. Open is returning to Pinehurst No. 2 a classic Donald Ross design in the sandhills of North Carolina. Golf fans typically associate the U.S. Open with lightning-fast greens and thick, chewy rough that severely punishes errant shots. Pinehurst's greens will be slick, but instead of gnarly rough, sandy wastelands surround Pinehurst's fairways and greens, requiring players to be creative with recovery shots.
When the U.S. Open was last played at Pinehurst 10 years ago, Germany's Martin Kaymer crushed the field, finishing -9. Runners-up Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton finished -1. That only three players finished under par shows just how stern a test Pinehurst can be.
Will Scottie Scheffler build on a remarkable season by winning his second major of the year? Can Xander Schauffele win a second straight major after his victory at the PGA Championship a few weeks ago? Is the red-hot Rory McIlroy ready to win his first major in 10 years? Or will Pinehurst see a LIV Tour star such as Brooks Koepka or Bryson DeChambeau emerge triumphant?

Wyndham Clark U.S. Open Course History
The defending U.S. Open champion, Clark, burst on the scene at Los Angeles Country Club last year. The 30-year-old Clark hadn’t even made the weekend in his previous two appearances before winning in 2023. The Denver native hasn’t fared much better in majors since, finishing T33 last year at the Open Championship and missing the cut and both The Masters and the PGA Championship
Wyndham Clark Recent Form
Despite being ranked fourth in the world, Clark has had a very uneven year. A rain-shortened 54-hole win at Pebble Beach in February and a handful of top-5 finishes have been mixed in amongst a couple of missed cuts and finishing no higher than T31 elsewhere. It’s been feast or famine for Clark in 2024.
Wyndham Clark 2024 U.S. Open Betting Outlook
The pressure of being the defending champion may prove to be too much for Clark. He might be worth a small outright wager, but he is not someone I will have on my main card.
