After a second-place finish at the Jeff Ruby Steaks, Flying Mohawk was No. 21 on the Kentucky Derby points board, but got the defection he needed from someone in the top 20 to allow him to join the field. He's won two of his last three races (he failed to place in two of his first three races) and likes to come from behind (a style that fits his starting position, No. 11).

However, he has only run on grass and synthetic surfaces, no dirt tracks so the Derby will be his dirt track debut. While his jockey, Joseph D. Ramos is a veteran, he will be making his Kentucky Dery debut this weekend.

Ramos' inexperience at the Derby and Flying Mohawk making his dirt track debut are enough to make me pass when it comes to betting on this horse.
