Daniel Berger vs. Sungjae Im – 18 Hole Matchup – Round 1

It simply hasn’t been Sungjae Im’s year. The South Korean golfer has struggled to find his top form. Im has missed three cuts and recorded T61-60 finishes at the Players Championship and Texas Children’s Houston Open during his most recent outings.

This pick is more of a fade on Im than it is backing Daniel Berger. However, Berger has had some solid stretches of play in 2025. He’s ranked 10th in total strokes gained, including top-50 in SG: Off-the-Tee, SG: Approach, and SG: Putting. He’s 12th in driving accuracy and 28th in proximity.

For comparison, Im is 181st SG: Approach and 136th at finding greens in regulation at 63.8 percent. He’s also 142nd in proximity and 149th in driving distance. Im is 149th in Round 1 scoring average this season (71.4) while Berger is 95th, averaging 70.67 in the opening round.

Berger hasn’t played Augusta National since 2022. However, he’s back this year and should be able to leverage his tee-to-green game to wind up with a lower score than Im in Round 1. Let’s bet a unit on Berger as a slight favorite to win this Round 1 18 hole matchup.

Pick: Daniel Berger (-115)

Collin Morikawa vs. Justin Thomas – 18 Hole Matchup – Round 1

I’m bullish on Collin Morikawa this week. He’s favored against Justin Thomas in their Round 1 18 Hole Matchup market and it’s for good reason.

Morikawa ranks second in total strokes gained in 2025, including 12th SG: Off-the-Tee, 1st SG: Approach and proximity. He’s also ninth at finding greens in regulation at a blistering 71.3 percent and fourth in driving accuracy.

Thomas is a fan favorite but he’s much more volatile than Morikawa. Thomas ranks 111th SG: Off-the-Tee and 124th scrambling. His approach game is strong and his putter can get hot at any moment. However, I’m much more comfortable backing Morikawa in this spot.

Morikawa ranks 37th in Round 1 scoring average (69.8) compared to Thomas averaging 70.63 (92nd) in the opening round. Morikawa’s gone under par in Round 1 at Augusta National in 2023 and 2024. Thomas has gone even par or higher in three of his last four appearances at the Masters.

Let’s bet another unit on Morikawa to beat Thomas in Round 1 on Thursday.

Pick: Collin Morikawa (-130)

Robert MacIntyre vs. Jordan Spieth – 18 Hole Matchup – Round 1

I’ve got my eye on Robert MacIntyre at even odds against Jordan Spieth in Round 1. Spieth won a green jacket in 2015 and has logged a top 5 finish in two of his past four appearances at the Masters. However, he missed the cut in 2022 and 2024, shooting a 79 in Round 1 last year.

MacIntyre hasn’t played at Augusta National since 2022. In two outings, the Scotsman has carded a T12 finish and T23 finish, shooting 74-73 in both opening rounds.

In 2025, MacIntyre is playing better and more consistent than Spieth. MacIntyre ranks eighth SG: Off-the-Tee, 21st SG: Approach, and sixth at finding greens in regulation at 71.5 percent. He’s also 15th in scoring average and seventh in birdie average.

Spieth is 127th at finding greens in regulation (64.5%) and 104th in scoring average (70.5) this season. He’s also outside the top-60 in SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Approach. His putter has been a strength, ranking 38th in putting average and 21st in one-putt percentage.

Spieth has played better in Round 1 compared to MacIntyre in 2025. He’s 44th in Round 1 scoring average (70.00) compared to MacIntyre at 70.43 (85th). However, I like how MacIntyre’s tee-to-green game looks in comparison to Spieth relying on his putter to create magic and save par.

Let’s finish with an underdog and bet one final unit on Robert MacIntyre to beat Jordan Spieth in Round 1 at the Masters.

Pick: Robert MacIntyre (+100)
