2025 PGA Championship Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sungjae Im

Rory McIlroy's thrilling victory at The Masters last month set up some compelling storylines for the second major of the season, the 2025 PGA Championship, which will be played this week at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.

McIlroy completed the career grand slam with his win at Augusta. If he wins again this week, he'll be halfway to a true grand slam. McIlroy has fared well at Quail Hollow throughout his career, having won four tournaments there. It's a course that favors big hitters — right up McIlroy's alley.

But McIlroy isn't even the favorite this week. That would be Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world. Scheffler cruised to an eight-shot victory at his most recent event, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Will golf fans be treated to a duel between McIlroy and Scheffler? Or will other top players intervene? Defending PGA champ Xander Schauffele is certainly capable of repeating. Justin Thomas and Ludvig Aberg have been hot lately. LIV Tour star Bryson DeChambeau has been frisky in recent majors, and other LIV players — Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Tyrrell Hatton and others — could contend.

Course History

The PGA Championship hasn't been Sungjae Im's cup of tea, as he's missed the cut four times and only has one top-20 finish in six total attempts at the Major. Luckily, that's not a very impactful metric, since the course rotates each season. Im has performed well at Quail Hollow, this year's venue, over the last two seasons, securing top-10 finishes in each event.

Recent Form

Im has been very active this season and he's playing solid golf, logging a trio of top-five finishes in 14 events played. That includes a fifth-place Masters finish in April, which was his second career top-five finish at the Major. Since then, Im has placed 11th, 33rd, and 23rd at the RBC Heritage, Byron Nelson, and Truist Championship, respectively. Statistically, it's worth noting that Im is an admirable 30th in SG: Putting this season at 0.408.

Betting Outlook: 2025 PGA Championship Predictions

Sungjae Im is paying +9000 to win this tournament, but I really have no interest in that since he hasn't won a PGA tournament since October 2021. However, Im has back-to-back top-10 Major finishes, and when factoring in his consecutive top-10 outings at Quail Hollow, I do think it's worth backing him in some capacity. I'll sprinkle on Im to finish 10th or better, which comes with a +500 payout at DraftKings Sportsbook.
