2025 The Genesis Invitational Golf Odds & Picks: Head-to-Head Matchups
We’re onto the third Signature Event of 2025 on the PGA Tour and it’s shaping up to be a good one during the annual Genesis Invitational. Due to recent wildfires in L.A., the Riviera Country Club course won’t host this season, as the Tour pivots to Torrey Pines South in San Diego, California.
Harris English just grinded out a win at the Farmers Insurance Open three weeks ago, which had three of its four rounds played on Torrey Pines South. Running over 7,700 yards in length as a par 72, with four inch rough, narrow fairways, and lightning-fast Poa Annua greens, Torrey Pines South will be a challenge, even for a smaller field comprised of the PGA Tour’s top golfers. Star players, led by Scottie Scheffler (+400) and Rory McIlroy (+700) are the betting favorites, followed by Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, and Hideki Matsuyama.
Last week, my WM Phoenix Open head-to-head matchups went 0-2. Sepp Straka continued playing top form despite being the underdog in his 72-hole tournament trio with Sam Burns and Tom Kim, while Hideki Matsuyama was outplayed by Justin Thomas in the other 72-hole tournament 3-ball matchup prop. Let’s attack this betting market again ahead of Thursday’s opening round from Torrey Pines Golf Course (South) and aim for a 2-0 sweep this weekend.

Tournament 3-Balls: Pendrith, Finau, Lowry
Taylor Pendrith has looked in top-form throughout the early portion of this season. The Canadian golfer just placed T7 at the Farmers Insurance Open a few weeks ago in a field twice the size of the one he’ll compete in during The Genesis Invitational. Tony Finau and Shane Lowry are great ball-strikers but there’s a reason oddsmakers are valuing Pendrith to win this tournament 3-ball at +165 odds.
Pendrith ranks 16th in total strokes gained this year, including third off-the-tee, 38th on approach, and fifth for total driving. Finding fairways and getting distance off-the-tee is crucial to climb the leaderboard at Torrey Pines South. Pendrith is a much more well-rounded golfer off-the-tee than Finau and Lowry, both accurate and powerful with his driver. He’s finding greens in regulation at 78.4 percent, ranked second on the PGA Tour.
His recent T7 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open will give him confidence against a more loaded field and talented golfers like Finau and Lowry. His putting, which has been the staple of his game for a long time, has been bad to start 2025. If Pendrith can get the flat stick to cooperate a bit better than we’ve seen, he’ll run away from the other two in this tournament 3-ball matchup.
Let’s jump on this favorite at good value, staking one unit on Pendrith to score lower than Finau and Lowry at +165 odds by the end of the fourth round on Sunday afternoon from Torrey Pines South.
Pick: Taylor Pendrith (+165)
Tournament 3-Balls: Aberg, Fleetwood, Im
Ludvig Aberg is the favorite to beat Tommy Fleetwood and Sungjae Im in the Tournament 3-Balls matchup player prop market on DraftKings Sportsbook. Aberg tends to start strong and fizzle out, which makes him hard to trust in this spot. Tommy Fleetwood is a high-quality player who doesn’t make many mistakes and usually positions himself for a top-20 finish in most events. However, I’m willing to back Sungjae Im at +175 to win this 3-ball matchup.
Im just recorded a T4 at the Farmers Insurance Open, playing three of four rounds on the Torrey Pines South course. The South Korean ranks 34th in total strokes gained this season, including 29th off-the-tee, 13th putting, and 32nd in driving accuracy. Im is also 25th scrambling and 28th in par 4 scoring average. He’s improved his putter a great deal to start 2025 but his weaknesses include converting greens in regulation, hole proximity, and distance off-the-tee.
Despite these shortcomings in his game, Im is a worthy prospect to back as the underdog against Aberg (+165) and a slight favorite over Fleetwood (+180) at +175 odds. Let’s bet one more unit on Im to replicate his effort at Torrey Pines South from a few weeks ago and score lower than Aberg and Fleetwood by the end of this event.
Pick: Sungjae Im (+175)
