2025 The Genesis Invitational Longshot Odds, Picks, & Predictions
The Genesis Invitational will begin on Thursday as the third Signature Event of the 2025 PGA Tour season. Instead of being played at Riviera Country Club, due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, the site has been relocated to another iconic course, Torrey Pines South, in San Diego California.
We just watched Harris English end a four-year winning drought with his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open three weeks ago, which had three of its four rounds played on Torrey Pines South. English is 90-1 to win on this course for the second time in a month, which is likely due to the star-studded field at The Genesis Invitational. Instead of 132 or 140 golfers, we’ve got 72 golfers. 29 of these golfers competed at the Farmers Insurance Open, navigating a lengthy par 72 track with windy conditions that may resurface this week.
My longshot bets have yet to find a winner in 2025 but that shouldn’t deter us at all from finding a few longshot prospects to sprinkle on ahead of The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines South. Follow me on X at Matt_MacKay_ for more free bets and weekly PGA Tour analysis.

Viktor Hovland (+5500)
Viktor Hovland will make his debut at Torrey Pines South this season at 55-1 in the outright winner betting market. The Norwegian golfer hasn’t played since a T22 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, unable to replicate his opening round 65 during the final three rounds. Hovland is a bomber off-the-tee, ranked 51st in strokes gained off-the-tee, 37th driving accuracy, and 38th for converting greens in regulation at 72.9 percent.
He’s also 37th for hole proximity, 20th putting average, and 14th on par 4 hole scoring. He’s being undervalued on a course where he’s previously logged a T2 runner-up finish during the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open. Scorecards won’t be flooded with birdies due to the difficult coastal winds and lengthy, ribbon-thin fairways. It’s prime Hovland time and I’m willing to bet 0.25 units on the Norwegian to contend and win his first PGA Tour event in 2025 at +5500 this week.
Samuel Stevens (+8000)
Sam Stevens nearly forced a playoff with Harris English on Sunday at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open, except his aggressive approach on the 18th hole par 5 found the water, leaving the young golfer with a lot of regret and a sour taste in his mouth, carding a solo runner-up finish at -7-under-par.
Stevens has redemption on the table this week in a return to Torrey Pines South. He’s ranked 37th in total strokes gained, including 42nd off-the-tee, 43rd in total driving, third in scrambling, and 21st for par 4 scoring. The American logged a T17 finish at Pebble Beach before regressing with a T44 at the WM Phoenix Open.
He’s built for these difficult courses and while no aspect of his game sticks out aside from his scrambling ability, Stevens’ recent play at this difficult track could result in minimal miscues, allowing him to climb the leaderboard. Let’s bet one more 0.25 unit wager on Stevens to win his first PGA Tour event in his return to Torrey Pines South at 80-1 odds.
