2025 US Open Picks & Predictions: Corey Conners

The third major of the year, the 2025 U.S. Open, begins Thursday at Oakmont Country Club in Western Pennsylvania.

Oakmont is a classic U.S. Open venue with narrow fairways, overgrown rough, and lightning-fast greens. We'll once again get to see the famous "Church Pews" - the huge bunker bordering holes No. 3 and No. 4 that has rows of grass strips in the sand.

It will be a challenging test for the best players in the world. Will we get a head-to-head duel between No. 1 player in the world Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship last month, and No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who won the Masters in April? Or will LIV Tour star Bryson DeChambeau successfully defend his 2024 U.S. Open title?

The BettingPros Guide to the 2025 U.S. Open will drill down on all the wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the top contenders for America's national championship of golf.

Read on for our 2025 US Open picks and predictions for Corey Conners.

Course History

Last season, Corey Conners shot under par or even-par in three of his four rounds at Pinehurst No. 2 to finish T-9. That snapped years of frustration at the U.S. Open, as he had missed the cut in his first five appearances in the major.

This will be his foray into Oakmont Country Club, as he did not appear at the U.S. Open back in 2016. After last season, the feeling about Conners in the U.S. Open is a lot different from what it was going into last year’s event.

Recent Form

Conners has been pretty good this season, making the cut in 13 consecutive events since being dismissed early from the Sony Open in Hawaii back in January. He has managed four finishes inside the top 10, and three straight top-10 showings in March, including a T-6 at THE PLAYERS Championship, sometimes referred to as the unofficial fifth major.

Conners was also T-8 at the Masters and T-19 at the PGA Championship, the first two majors this season, so he doesn’t get fazed by the bright lights.

Betting Outlook: 2025 U.S. Open Picks & Predictions

Conners might be a golfer flying a bit under the radar, perhaps because of his previous failures at the U.S. Open. One strong showing at Pinehurst won’t wash away the bad taste completely. But, one reason to really like Conners this week is his tremendous driving accuracy percentage at 68.84%, which ranks eighth on the PGA Tour.

Conners has hit 559 out of 812 possible fairways, and he checks in 13th in greens in regulation (GIR) percentage at 69.64%, ranking 13th. That accuracy could help him wend his way through the tight fairways at Oakmont, avoiding the bucket fairway bunkers, which can wreak tremendous havoc.
